I mean, wouldn’t that true though? Nobody does know what to say, no one knew that Kendal was going to do what he did (besides the audience) so they may have specifically avoided writing a lot of witty one-liners because of the frantic nature of the situation.

I will say that the directing and jumps from scene to scene were done really well. It’s a truly frantic time for the family and the business and the episode didn’t linger on any character or conversation for too long. Was a hectic pace.

The writing is still great imo. Look at all of the subtext in Romans call to Logan

 

what a great start. i'm a bit sad because it seems like we're not going to get all the characters in the same room again until the end of the season, but down for them to try something new.

So Shiv teams with Kendall next episode? Is that what her last scene seemed to speculate to? Or does she go back to work with Gil? Other options?

 

I also wonder how soon the two new characters / villains (everyone’s a villain lol) come in to play.

If Shiv does join Kendall I feel like she’ll try and undermine him to get control. I can’t see her believing in / trusting Kendall to know what to do

 

Agree, this is my favourite show and I've loved every single episode but the premiere just felt a bit lacking in something, the writing wasn't as sharp and the pace of the dialogue was much slower with a lot more exposition/overtly explaining what's going on. I'm hoping it's just a one-off but I wonder if maybe they've done it to broaden the appeal of the show...

My favorite part was when Kendall called her and she hung up. "Shivvvv!! Shivvy shiv!"

 

I kinda felt this too unfortunately. Especially right after finishing a rewatch of S1 & S2. But still a good premiere

I can't quite put my finger on it either, it felt kinda bumbling in its pace compared to the first 2 seasons. I know there were Covid delays on production but something feels a little slapped together here

I'll be glad to be wrong in future episodes, there's no way they can botch a full season

It did get more interesting as soon as the lawyer entered the scene
