That was the point of the end of Season 2, Roman told Kendall "Dad will never respect you unless you try and kill him", and that subtle smirk was Logan saying "ok son, its fucking on" because he knows he has the dirt on the French kid, but he also knows he likes the battle, and that's all its about as Logan nears the end of his life, he's envious of his own kids for what they had growing up that he didn't, and the only thing left for him to do is make everyone else bleed money and power

well, yeah, he got big from a movie that came out before most of the people on this site were born lol
finished up season 2 again and my opinion, which certainly isn't a hot take, is that Logan goated Kendall into turning on him especially in the finale, but basically all season. bringing him to the dead kid's house and making him come inside not just stay in the car, and in the final right before announcing to the family that Kendall is the blood sacrifice by answering Kendall's question of if he could be a killer with "idk probably not, but maybe you don't need to be a killer these days". the easy way out would have been to say yes, and then Kendall likely would have fallen in line (or at least MORE likely). to me, Logan is an old man who knows he's on his way out and he'd rather make his kids earn the business and pick up the destroyed remains of it than just hand it over worth billions when they didn't "earn it". Logan has since the beginning of the series brought up how lucky his kids are and how ungrateful they are for the lives they've had (mentioned especially when they are at Connor's house in New Mexico when Kendall shows up high/drunk). I think Logan is also the deranged sociopath that gets a kick out of making his kids squirm so if Kendall wants to take over the business, Logan's fine with that, but Logan's going to make him go through hell to get it - all while some part of Logan will definitely be enjoying it - and anxious to make his bread with Kendall's bones (GREAT line btw).
Ugh the episode with the no confidence vote is just as frustrating (from an emotional perspective. It’s great television) on the second watch as the first. Logan and Roman are such assholes.
i love how the helicopter pilot gives Kendall like 3 legit reasons for why they can’t fly before telling him they’ll get shot out of the sky if they take off lmao. I personally would have started with that one.
It does make you wonder how differently it would've gone down if Kendall *had* been there. I'm actually thinking not much. Logan probably stays in the board room not much Kendall could do about that. Stewy would've likely still abstained, Kendal just fucked up thinking he had his vote. Lawrence's vote wouldn't have changed with Kendal there (unless he changes it to against just to fuck Kendall). So it just comes down to who can bully Roman the most... and daddy still probably wins there.
agreed. Seeing how Kendal acts/reacts in other pressure situations with his dad in season 1 shows that he probably wouldn’t have had the guts to go through with it - or at least not be convincing enough to win others over. Part of me wonders though if Gerri (one R? Two R’s?) would have carried the baton the rest of the way if Kendal had gotten started properly. I feel like she’s stepped in and done the heavy lifting when the kids can’t but at least they get it started, but not even having Kendal in the room was instant death for the plan. I still remember thinking as the episode ended, “well what the fuck. Where does this go now? That was only episode 6?!?!” (or whatever number it is)
Gerri didn't have a vote though. And not really sure whose vote she could've changed. She pulled the strings she could, but she is 100% the best player of the game (behind Logan of course) and so had to stay calculated in the board room. Does anyone know why both Roman and Frank had votes? Is getting a vote even something the COO would get (it could explain one of them having a vote but not both)? Seems like if Roman's board seat was through family, I'm surprised Shiv and Connor don't have seats, whereas if it was through job title he wouldn't have one.
ha, that’s a great point about why Roman has a vote and/or it either belongs to him or Frank but not both since Frank was COO, got fired after the first episode. Hired back… at some point before the vote, but Roman was still there so they were… COO? I guess maybe Frank was more of an advisor to the COO since Roman would go on to mention how he disliked having Frank looking over his shoulder and commenting on what he was doing but I doubt that even though Frank then remained / was back on the payroll that he would get a vote. Feel like that would be something the board would have to vote on and not just a decision that Logan can make on his own.
