The Wire is weird in that it had an incredible series finale in pretty a pretty bad final season. It is worth it to sit through season 5 just to see how perfectly they nail it in tying everything up in the last few minutes of the finale.
Six Feet Under had an all time great finale. The rest of the show was good with some great mixed in but they nailed the finale.
Eventually might revisit Deadwood. I watched that way too young and found it very boring as I wanted shooting and action, I didn’t know it was gonna be so dialogue heavy, although even at a younger age I still felt like Swearengen was a bad ass even though it was barely holding my attention. I’m sure watching it now I’d certainly like it more and enjoy the dialogue more.
My favorite series finale of all time is Star Trek: DS9's "What You Leave Behind". Just absolute perfection. I know there is at least 2 or 3 other people in here that will have my back on that lol.
I wish I liked the mad men finale even half as much as I liked this one, final season was incredible but the end never totally worked for me
As dumb and problematic as it is I think as a light low stakes "turn your brain off" type show it still works.
Glad to see some Rectify love. That show is sweepingly beautiful. “Because I know you. Because I know you. Because I know you.”
Not sure why… but ending didn’t really feel that satisfying to me. Like sure, yay Kendel lost. But like Roman said… it was all bullshit. And like Shiv said… Ken wouldn’t have been good at the job. Keeping the company wouldn’t have made him any happier. If anything having him be the one to drive his fathers legacy into the ground wouldve been a far more satisfying ending
Also why are people suggesting Roman might have an okay ending? Isn't he probably facing a lawsuit from Gerri? He's still a rich white guy so isn't fucked fucked, but he's probably the most fucked of all the kids. Kendall nearly bounced back with the 100 he'll be able to bounce back again. Shiv will waste a few more years with Tom watching him fuck up Waystar before getting back to whatever she was doing before getting pulled back into Logan's games. Connor has enough money to actually be happy. Roman is gonna lose a lot of his money and has the worst prospects of all the kids to begin with. He's not as fucked as Greg, but like, that doesn't say much.
I'd say 0% chance that lawsuit goes through now that Tom is keeping Gerri and firing the rest of the old guard
I may have missed that, but I thought it was always portrayed she was angling for and was going to get a massive pay-off. Even more unlikely now Tom bringing her back into the fold. I am assuming even if he didnt plan on doing that, shiv would pressure him to ensure it was settled rather than a court case. I know i may be being thick, but did Logan ask Roman to fire Gerri to mess with him, or genuinely wanted her fired whent hey were at Connors wedding? So is it not ironic she is now staying and the rest are gone.
