yeah idk kendall is absolutely right up there with the pantheon of other great tv characters imo, the writing is insane
The Sopranos is my all time favorite show, so me preferring Soprano/Gandolfini may be a biased take but, I certainly wouldn't call you crazy for preferring White/Cranston.
Alright I promised myself years ago I wouldn’t get worked up about subjective opinions especially in fan threads on this website. I’ll see myself out
These are silly comparisons because I don't think this show revolves around Kendall in the same way that Sopranos/Breaking Bad revolve around Tony/Walter (moresso BB/Walter)
in a very large way, a good majority of this show does revolve around Kendall though, sometimes indirectly but, yes Brian Cox is the 'main star' or main character, but Kendall is at the forefront of nearly everything that is going on.
Oh I thought we meant the characters themselves here. Performance-wise I think they're all damn good, though I do agree with the tweet that I see those actors as Tony and Kendall, whereas with WW I was thinking "Man Cranston is a great actor" haha
My favorite show is The Sopranos so idk, I’m biased. I’m not sure the character of Kendall reaches those heights. In moments, sure, I’m often wowed by Strong’s performance; while with Gandolfini, he had this encompassing presence no matter what he was doing on-screen. The emotional and intellectual depths to his character and the performance to match, it felt pretty limitless while watching. His performance led to some iconic (dare I say legendary) cinematic moments and artistic portrayals of human complexity. People consider Tony’s goodness even when he’s at his most depraved and vice-versa. He’s unknowable while constantly showing you who he is. I’m not sure I can say the same for Kendall.
it’s splitting hairs a bit. putting him in the convo, to me, is not a crazy thing. he is, at worst, a top 5 tv performance. ever.
idk man Boyd Crowder > Kendall Roy Got a lot of hills to climb before you reach Tony Soprano in my dumb personal list
Minus the third season finale (to a degree), I'd say Kendall's been the show protagonist and it's mainly his story. I'd be surprised if the finale didn't center around him, for good or bad.
