This version of Welcome to Earth can GET IT EDIT: Love this version of Keep it Between the Lines, this rules
The instrumental section at the end of Welcome to Earth just transported me to another plane of reality
Definitely better than Volume 1. Might be because it's shorter and most of the songs are from one record, but it's really a neater, tighter record. Now I'm just hoping for a Volume 3, where he covers Sound and Fury in full.
really tho. I mean everyone on the record is great but she really stands out in this bluegrass cast he's assembled sturgill is probably the worst musician (from a technical standpoint) by a mile and it's not like the dude can't pick it. just a murderer's row
right. it’s more just different style. like, dude shreds on S+F. just, as good as he is, less of the fast pace bluegrass style picking. but the mandolin and the fiddle are insaaaane
honestly i love S+F but it seemed like a miserable era for sturgill so i don’t blame him pretending it doesn’t exist, even if his writing was great during it
Thanks for the idea. I tried it with and without his original “In Bloom” included and it seemed to work better just leaving it out so it’s all cuttin grass vibes.
Bought my dad a copy of Cuttin’ Grass Vol. 1 for Christmas, he was really touched. He spent so many years trying to get me into bluegrass, it’s something nice to share.
Gave A Sailor's Guide a spin on the turntable tonight for the first time in a long time. Man, that album is great. The band sounds so fucking good across the board.
