It has everything to do with it. Jason Cruz has been openly transphobic, made openly transphobic posts, has liked openly transphobic posts, and called trans women men. Respectfully, both of these things are related. They're a part of a larger trend of very right wing beliefs Jason has. My criticisms are of him ss a human in general. As a victim of his talking points that have helped push trans rights back in the usa, I will continue to push back every single time people post anything new related to Strung Out. Also, right wing talking points pushing back against people with a platform using that platform to stand up for the marginalized and against the wealthy are incredibly important to fight back against vehemently. I'm disappointed in every band that tours and plays shows with Strung Out post-transphobia, it shows me those bands likely don't particularly care about who they tour with. Now, do all of them know? Probably not, but it shows me a much larger with the general scene and how little people care about real world politics.
Because it’s being taken out of context. He is clearly throwing political shade at the Billie Eilish comment. As I’ve stated multiple times, I don’t personally agree with it but for everyone to say it’s racist & sexist is looking at the situation through the wrong lenses. At the end of the day I’m not defending Jason Cruz’s beliefs or political views, I’m defending the context of the post. Now you’re trying to put words in my mouth when, again, none of this had anything to do with my comment. These are all criticisms that stem from separate incidents - none of which I referenced. I’m not sure if you’re trying to educate me or throw shade at me but I’ve already apologized to you & stated that I don’t share the same views or beliefs as Jason Cruz. I just separate the art from the artist (which you seem to do as well seeing as you still listen to them)
Why do you feel the need to do this though? It's a shitty stupid thing for him to have posted in any case, and trying to minimize how it makes people feel seems like a gigantic waste of time that only makes you look like you're defending the post. What difference does it make why it upsets people? It's upsetting. That should be end of story.
