I saw some interview from the weekend where John said he wrote it within the past year, and that it came together surprisingly quick. He and Michelle also mentioned that because of how far tech has come since they were last an active band, it was so easy for them to collaborate on a song from their own separate corners of the world without having to find time to be in the same physical space. It's opened them up to the idea of working on more music in the future. (Michelle said she would love to do more but everyone else is pretty busy now).
Crazy that the Format and Straylight weren't around for years and years, and now they've both played shows in October and released a new song, and Will is involved with both.
