Mike’s my fav kid character.

 

Yeah, like I understand that teenagers are moody and angsty, but it feels like the creators made him quite a different person this season to an unrealistic degree, and people just explain it away like "meh, all teenagers are monsters" lol. I do love Mike though, but wish they used him a little better.

 

Mike was easily my favorite kid in season one. In two I was one of his biggest defenders since losing El completely destroyed him and I understood how that anger spilled out. This season it seemed like they didn’t know what to do with him or wanted to ratchet up the drama like they did with Hopper and pushed it too far.

His best scene was the very first one where he’s breaking into song like a dork. That was classic Mike and really perfect.

That’s another example of why I really hope next season is scaled down to the main group again. Spreading out the ensemble worked for things like adding in Alexei or the Scoops Troop, but also meant other really important things got lost in the shuffle.

 

They’ve pretty much already said the scale was gonna increase though.

 

Mike’s arc in this season of what it means to love someone was great. He was learning the wrong lessons like most teenage boys do, and found his way back.

 

Part of me feels like a sitcom based around this cast would be amusing as fuck. Like I just want to see the kids having fun & not getting chased by giant monsters & pissing off the govenment.

 

I can’t find the Dustin gif I want so this just gets a boooooo.

 

I loved the season that was the biggest yet, so they’ve got my complete faith in anything they wanna do.

 

I loved this season too, but the last thing I want from the show is more spectacle and flash. I just want to see these characters that I love interacting. That’s always been the best part of the show.

 

“I think the biggest thing that’s going to happen is it’s going to open up a little bit, not necessarily in terms of scale, in terms of special effects, but open up in terms of allowing plot lines into areas outside of Hawkins,” he said.

I do agree with this. I also like how they conveyed that his overprotectiveness of Eleven came more from a place of worrying about her health and safety with the bloody noses and not wanting to lose her again. Max made some really good points that ultimately led to Mike learning to trust Eleven to be her own person and you end up sympathizing with all involved.

 

This makes the most sense to me. Season 3 basically wrapped up the whole Hawkins storyline and all of the drama so far in a satisfying manner. If Season 4 marks a radical shift, I wouldn't be surprise.

 

Blah, yeah that’s basically the exact opposite of what my dream for the season would be. Unless of course the whole gang goes to Russia or something, that would be fun for sure. But if it means spreading out into even more separate stories, that’s where I felt we lost some threads this year. The individual scenes were all pretty much fine, but a LOT was shoved in already and we saw less of quite a few people/certain relationships.

 

I will say this is the most I've wanted to immediately rewatch a Netflix show and the only reason I haven't yet is cause I'm gonna start from s1. It just really feels like a lot of reaching to find the flaws. And I'm not saying there aren't valid points made but just almost all of them don't feel worth dwelling on to me personally lol

 

We’re on episode 2 of season 2 right now. We’re doing the full thing again.

 

The good and the bad are all part of the discussion. I don’t think anyone here actually disliked the season or is trying to dwell on anything in particular. I’ve already watched the first six episodes twice and loved it as a whole, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t things I had issues with or want to speculate about.

 

I get it, sometimes it just gets exhausting to me how it feels like everything needs to be perfect lol

 

I just did the full rewatch and finished it July 3rd so it’s all fresh. Lol. If I hadn’t just done it I probably would have gone through one and two again as well instead of just blowing through three again.

 

I’m kind of the opposite, I find only wanting endless praise and refusal to discuss flaws or criticism exhausting. That’s why I love talking about it here and not somewhere like reddit, because we can open up more interesting discussions without it meaning that we aren’t real fans or something. Plus of course talking about what you didn’t like is often how people can bring their own insight in and show you something you might never have thought of.

 

Same, we’ve watched season 1 at least 4 times at this point. I think I gotta let the old seasons chill for a while before I watch again.


Thought the urge to do it around Halloween will be tough to fight

 

I’ve definitely thrown one on randomly a bunch of times. I think I’ve only done them both back to back intentionally maybe twice. I always like to rewatch a series before a new season starts if I can.

 

I noticed he was sharing it with her in that last shot when I first watched it and that messed me up. Such a small little moment but it was so sweet.

 

Hopper has to be the American. The terminator looking dude referred to him as that I think at least a few times during the season.
