I started watching this today and I only got a episode in. All I can think is the theme music is so good and I've got my theories going about the girl. Dustin also really reminds me of someone off the Goonies and I love that whole little group.
Rewatching episode 2 with some friends who just started the show. I say this as someone who enjoyed the season as a whole, but man, Winona Ryder is terrible in this.
She is basically the only weak link, at least as far as the adults go. I just finished this tonight and obviously loved it. Actually cried on the last episode. You know when.
I didn't have a problem with her. Could they have cast a better actress? Sure. But I totally bought her portrayal as a mother obsessing over finding her lost son.
y'all are still ridic!! The only time I teared up during the series was during Winona scenes. Gutted me. And I cry like never but sis just nailed it. Like tbh I never knew why ppl loved her so much cause I was young when she was huge and I'd only seen her in like 3 things prior and didn't have much of an opinion on her but now I'm convinced she's a goddess! I want her as my alt universe mom
I thought the same. Although I'm not a huge fan of hers to begin with (I still feel personally betrayed by her actions in Mr. Deeds), I give her a bye since she was introduced almost immediately as a hysterical mother whose child just went missing. I feel like anyone playing that would have come off as grating. Her scenes with Eleven in the pool really tugged at my heartstrings, though.
I'd think she nailed it even if it was a regular story about her child being taken because I'd be a hysterical ott mess just from that, but given how she felt her son was alive and communicating with her and everyone thought she was crazy I'd be that hysterical + 100000 so I think she played that very well and I don't think she could've/should've done it any other way. She really sucked me into the series immediately. Had no idea she'd be such a divisive aspect!
