Just finished. Totally awesome season and loved Billy in the villain role. Rankings for me 3, 1 , 2. Although 1 and 3 are close. Also Hopper is def the American thats in the Russian cell right?
Just finished. Alexie just wanted his cherry slushy, and he never got it Ending monologue was all the feels got damn.
agreed with this. EL talking him back to himself and seeing the black veins slowly disappear was amazing
Speculating about any health issues of the cast seems like a bad look and not something we should be bringing into the thread.
S3 certainly isn’t the “best” season ever but it might be my favorite season of a show that I “binged watched” (3 days for 8 episodes). I was captivated and rarely looked away, which is something to say for my dull attention span and the way I automatically want to look up spoilers. I think it was a fantastic 2019 season of a show. It perfectly paid homage to 80s horror and grindhouse and action and sci fi. It was super gory and fucked up and wore its influences on its tattered sleeve. A harder-MA rating is all I couldve asked for
My completely ridiculous and selfish hope for the season was that we would finally get a precision f strike, so even though it came during a super emotional and stressful scene I was thrilled. I doubt they will ever change the rating but I love that it has actually been allowed to grow up and not stay static considering how wide the audience is.
@David87 don’t read this yet, but I wondered if that song choice was another hint that all hope is not lost for Hopper. That movie is all about stopping the darkness and undoing the damage for a happy ending. Losing Artax is still a super traumatic scene even though we know he comes back, so maybe this ending will feel that way later as well.
People were a bit up in arms about how mean spirited a lot if the deaths were to the Mind Flayer but it just reminds me of how cruel the grimy 80s body horror flicks were. This definitely felt in line with them. No mercy, even if they didnt show the fireworks kid die
Word vomiting a bit but I wish they played a little more into the Thing/Body Snatchers angle and maybe had 1-2 of the kids get caught mid-season then released during the battle
The fact that they took out whole families and young children really was brutal. The town is going to be reeling for a long time unless they just go full Derry.
One thing that always fucks me is whenever a character has to cut themselves open to get something out, so Charlie literally shoving his hand under El’s flesh was enough body horror for me thnx
Absolutely, I dont doubt that it won’t affect s4. The “30 killed in a fire” epilogue was a little too neat for me
Yeah that was hands down (and in...) the worst part. When he really sank it in there I almost puked. Hit me harder than most of Midsommar honestly, just because that is the exact kind of thing that always messes me up.
I think this was probably the best season, but there are so many low key iconic elements in season 1, from the wall with the lights and letters to the stretching through the walls, that the series hasn't really matched since. There's some good stuff here, and the whole thing is based in tones and motifs from specific references, but that season 1 stuff really blew me away as completely original while feeling familiar, gonna be hard to top.
Thought we were gonna get a full on Dawn of the Dead homage with an army of flayed invading the mall but nope they just straight up melted.
Maybe I was on my phone too much through 1-2 but I felt that every character was fully fleshed out throughout all of this one
