Just because they didn't kill him doesn't mean they aren't planning on taking a risk with him. I wouldn't discount him being some kind of adversary next season, either as a brainwashed Russian sleeper agent or from being infected in some way by his time in the Upside Down. That would be a risk as well. I think people get too hung up on unexpected deaths as the only way to "take risks" with beloved characters in shows/movies.
I don't think killing off a character is the only way to take a risk. I'm saying the show wouldn't kill off a character because they don't want to rock the boat of its fanbase. It would be too risky for them.
Right, I'm just saying it's also very risky/would rock the boat of the fanbase if they do what I think they might do and have him be bad in some way. Not saying they're definitely going to do it, but it seems like there's a good chance they could just because we don't know for how long he'll be a Russian prisoner or what happened to him in the Upside Down.
I’d like to think that the 80s were a simpler time. A time where people didn’t clap at the end of movies
That was pretty much my reaction to the ends of Episode 4, 5, and 6 haha. I'm trying to avoid what seems like spoiler-y discussion up there since people stopped using the tags..!!!
I’ve been watching this show with a couple co-workers. One of them has noted a few times that the actor who plays Nancy probably has an eating disorder (her sister struggled with bulimia and she pointed out a couple “warning signs”). Kinda bums me out thinking about it now.
Does anyone recall any sort of throw away dialogue where the Russians explained why they wanted to open the portal so badly? I thought maybe I missed something but my buddy asked me the same question after finishing and I’m like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
General Cold War weaponization I think. The end definitely confirms that they are using the technology and life for that purpose, just on a smaller scale since the gate was closed.
I didn’t realize there was a mid credits scene until like two seconds ago when my friend texted me about it. I should probably go watch that haha
Just finished and I loved this season. I think I’ve enjoyed every season more than the last (I know I’m in the minority liking 2 more than 1). I think they pulled everything off so well. The highlight for me was definitely the Robin/Steve/Dustin/Erica group. Also there is nooooo way Hopper is dead. They know that by not showing the body people are always going to wonder. My guess is the focus of Season 4 is discovering that he is alive and then El will have to navigate them through the Upside Down to go rescue him from Russia. The only logical place to go is to have a reason for the kids to choose to open the gate. It would just be derivative to have it opened by a secret government agency again, so this time it’ll be a choice.
Both beloved and the closest thing to a standard “hero” the show has. As much as every character plays their own role, especially El with her powers playing a necessary role, Hopper is always front and center saving the day
Killing off Hop would be a bad look, he was one of the most entertaining parts of the season. Locking him up somewhere with El having no powers is an interesting dynamic but I feel like i’d be annoyed for half of next season
There were some pics of her from last season promotional tours where she looked pretty thin. And there are rumors that her and Charlie heaton have drug issues since they are/were? together and he was busted with drugs. But of course that’s all tabloid stuff. Personally I didn’t notice her looking unnaturally thin until the hospital scene
