I was definitely rooting for Steve/Robin up until she came out to him but honestly the way that all turned out was much better. Steve doesn't really have any true friends his age and it's important he has someone to lean on
Having just watched another recent series, along with the ending of this season, it makes me wonder if they would tie the events Chernobyl into this seeing as that tragedy happened like 9 months after the end of this season. Then again, they may want to stay away from real life tragedies.
There was an amazing meme on the ST subreddit comparing the two, but I agree that it would be unlikely to show up for real. This show does not deal in the subtle, and it would most likely come off in poor taste.
I thought this was the best season of the show tbh holy shit at Will tearing down Castle Byers. fucking ripped my heart out. Noah Schnapp is way too fucking good at acting for someone so young
Thought this was half great and half disjointed. The most interesting aspects were Will and the group growing apart (which fell by the wayside almost immediately after he destroys the castle and the budding friendship between Steve and Robin and Max being a breakout character. Alexi was also a great side character. The bad: I felt like Hopper started on a bad note and the show had no idea what to do with him from there, which nerfed his death because he felt like he needed to go. After he got separated from Eleven, the one interesting theme he had going (struggling with being a father) went out the window and he’s stuck in a boilerplate romantic subplot. With that said, the note was genuinely touching and a good place to end him on (for now). I also felt like Eleven became less of a character and more of a deus ex machina, saving everyone at the last minute. MBB and the guy playing Mike have zero chemistry, so them building to a big “I love you” is kind of a shrug. The Terminator subplot was also a jump from homage (which the show usually does well) to just inserting a movie into the show. TL;DR: This was a frustrating season to watch. But the cast is so good and the set design so immaculate, that I’ll tune in to whatever is next.
Episode 4- holy shit the eleven/billy fight. Also love the use of We’ll Meet Again. Hopper just beating the shit out of the mayor and basically kidnapping him can’t end well. Jesus Hop.
What a great season. No epilogue for Murray made me think maybe he got caught and was the American but everyone else's idea made more sense lol. I liked Billy last season for some reason but glad he got much more to do this season. Thought he killed it. Hopper takes too long to wind up his punches imo
I binged so quick it’s hard to definitively say it’s my favorite, but as it kept going I was surprised that I found each episode as good as the last. I’m inclined to say its my top, but probably would benefit from a more spaced out rewatch. That said this show is consistently great to me, can’t wait to see what’s next.
When Dustin walked in and Robin said "how many children are you friends with?" was one of my favourite moments
2 episodes left. I always forget how much I love this show until I’m actually watching it. I’ve always watched a full season in 1-2 days and haven’t done a rewatch.
