Wow that was the goriest thing they’ve ever shown. Nasty. Also yes Karen send the sociopath packing don’t do this to meeeeeee.
Oh yeah. If that happens in a bigger way later it will be super gross. Also the start of episode two is bonkers.
I’m halfway through the second episode and honestly I haven’t stop smiling the biggest, stupidest smile.
Same about Hopper, definitely. I get that they’re going for the standard concerned dad story but it doesn’t seem quite in his character to want to hurt her, especially since he’s the one making the rule that she can’t really go out still. Mike is still angering me more because I feel like they’ve established well enough for the entire series that he can always be honest with El and their bond isn’t like other kids, so for him to suddenly start lying up a storm and being a jerk doesn’t ring true. It would make more sense for him to tell her that Hop threatened him and how much that freaks him out. They could still even take a break to figure things out but it wouldn’t have to be this specific plot which makes him look bad again.
Also can we talk about Sean Astin because I did not see that coming and I definitely screamed and almost cried.
Thoughts midway into episode 2: I feel like the writers of this show don’t know their characters. Hopper intimidating Mike to keep him away from El, and moreover, Mike actually BEING intimidated and lying to El just because Hopper yelled at him, seems to me like the same kind of nonsense as Dustin not telling anybody about Dart last season. It might move the story forward/create necessary conflict for the plot, but it feels pretty dang shallow. Also, the vision that Billy had of slamming Karen’s head against the wall was super unpleasant and maybe a bit too far?
Agreed on everything except the last part. I thought it was shocking and awful and actually really worked to show how serious this was.
No Netflix, I don’t want to skip the intro. Thanks though? The writers def had a Die Hard party while writing this season.
People that age tend to act pretty irrational when it comes to emotions. I can believe the lying because it’s not like they are these major lies, he thinks he’s doing the least harm. Shit I don’t even wanna think about all the cringey stuff I did at that age. As for hopper, I can see him being over protective with what he has been through. If anything, his stuff with Joyce is the some what annoying part. I’m only 3 eps in
I def Buy Mike’s actions. Hopper less so. And yea... his stuff with Joyce in those first 3 get old pretty quick. Hold on a little bit more with that.
Except for the fact that he learned last season how detrimental it was to keep her locked away and controlled... I love that Joyce is still tuned in to things and I want Hop to catch up and stop being such a heel to everybody. Also @Greg when you say broke do you mean the stream or the story just lost you?
And yeah in general I think what Mike is doing is believable for a teenage boy, but for him specifically in relation to her it falls flat. It works for Lucas and Max, not for them.
Started at 4:30 and just finished. This is the just the greatest 8 hour Action / Sci-Fi / Horror movie ever. And I have never cried as hard as I just did... I feel like I need to go on a walk now or something, I need to process all of this lol.
