There are numerous reasons to take issue with Billy (controlling his little sister with violence, trying to run over children, seemingly taking extra exception to his sister befriending a person of color, beating the shit out of Steve), a humorous scene of him flirting with a mom should be the least
I had no problem with episode 7. It felt like a nice intermission of sorts for me. I needed a break from the mind flayer, that thing was scaring the shit out of me.
Done. Had a blast with this season, and I purposely avoided the thread. I kinda knew ep7 would be polarizing. Honestly it was necessary though like someone said it didn’t have to be a full ep. Max is awesome I can’t wait to see where she goes as a character. That whole ending dance scene was perfect. Finn was not very good in this season. Which is weird cuz I loved him in s1/It. So many more great 80’s references. The general plot/outline for the season was lacking I felt. Hoping a lot more comes of Elevens powers next season.
Also the scene with Jonathan/Joyce telling Will their favorite memories with him was great. The actress who plays Mikes Mom whom is also in The Sopranos/Mad Men is distractingly attractive.
I just finished the season so I'm sure every topic has been discussed into the ground already but Lol at Bob and Joyce re...joycing when Bob got away like the dang things weren't just behind a locked door keep running fools. Also Billy was kinda useless like I kept waiting for him to have some sort of purpose or point but naw he was just douching around like knock off Zac Efron with a perm.
Also omg all the nonstop smoking. I was kinda distracted with Billy smoking all the time cause I thought his teeth looked too nice to be a smoker. It's weird to watch things where smoking is so common. I remember when I first watched Twin Peaks I'd actually forgotten u could smoke in restaurants even tho I remember it being a thing when I was younger. It wasn't even that long ago that u could but it feels like forever
Yeah that's interesting ha. Well how old are Steve, Nancy, Johnathan, and Billy supposed to be? 16 to 18? And how quick does it take to get smokers teeth. I actually was thinking he looked like Zac Efron a little too haha.
I forgot to post about it, but my girlfriend and I finished this on Saturday. I pretty much loved the entire thing with some minor to medium criticisms throughout. Episode 7 is easily my least favorite thing the show has done, however I don't think it is nearly as bad as some people are making it out to be. The character development for El there is pretty important, if nothing else. Between Noah, Millie, and Winona, this show has some powerhouse acting.
I think watching Beyond Stranger Things definitely offers a broader perspective in this show if anyone is interested. I think they cover a lot of the stuff we've spoken about in this thread and it's pretty hilarious watching the cast banter and see how even the kids contribute to the writing process
I love Winona and I don’t remember being bothered by her last year, but whenever she got confrontational this season it was tough for me to take her seriously. It’s like when her voice reaches a certain volume she forgets how to be nuanced
You guys this whole show is obviously just a ploy to get D&D into the mainstream. It's an advertisement. Whoever doesn't see that and falls for it is pretty oblivious. That reminds me that I need to level up my gnome warlock before tomorrow night's session.
I played D&D for the first time on Saturday. How did Strangers Things get me to do it but Freaks and Geeks didn’t
I won't lie. After watching this and recently getting into The Adventure Zone podcast (The Adventure Zone | Maximum Fun) I have a strong desire to play some D&D.
Prob about those ages but man he smoked literally all day like even when lifting weights so I feel like it would take a toll lol! But I def don't expect them to like yellow his teeth or anything. I just happened to notice how nice his teeth were while he was smoking ha
