I watched one of them, then I had to go to bed. it was like 2am. Haven’t seen Talk the thrones. But it was fun to watch.
Agreed. In a Netflix binge setting I didn’t have a problem with it. If it had been on a network airing weekly I would have rioted haha!
I liked Max. Billy is supposed to be unlikable, and they succeeded greatly in that. I do think we were supposed to like Bob, but I wasn’t that into him. He gave REALLY bad advice haha! I did like the new main scientist/doctor at Hawkins, as well.
oh sorry I meant just the gang in episode 7. Every other new character I liked a lot: Max is the best. Bob and Dr. Owens were both great too. Billy is comically bad, but I get it (that weight lifting scene lol).
Just finished this a little while ago. Time to get my final recap done and then I'll hop back in here and catch up. Also, planning on doing an entire post just on the music. But I will say I largely loved this season.
When can I stop using spoiler tags? I also LOVED Mike’s parents. The mom and Billy scene was hilarious, as was the dad and Dustin scene.
Bob is Favorite character of the new bunch. The Windy City gang is maybe the least believable thing on the show. Which is actually amazing considering the show is based on an encroaching parallel dimension. Lol Billy needed more screen time to really matter. Max was fine and I liked her and Lucas together. Dustin and his moms interactions were awesome. I feel like Season 3 is gonna take a big leap to somewhere. Just not sure where.
Man, I really love what they've done with Steve but he seems to get the short end of the stick big time. He's stepped up in a big way and has gone through more growth than any other character. It does feel like his character is left in a sort of limbo by the end of the season. Curious to see where they go with him. Long live Samwise I mean Bob the Brain
Steve got a lot more likeable, and Dustin got kind of annoying for me at times. Billy was such an authentic 80's asshole. I thought that was great lol. I think this season was pretty much exactly on par with season 1 for me. Loved it.
I’m 5 episodes in. Loving it so far. I think I know what episode 7 is and I don’t think I’ll mind it at all
Finished this a couple hours ago. Some thoughts: Really really enjoyed it, the epilogue was especially nice. Steve was so good this season, him and Dustin together were great. The kid who plays Will was incredible. Was worried going in with how strong the core cast was that adding new people was gonna seem forced but it wasn’t at all. Billy was the only one who could have been fleshed out more, he was the perfect 80s villain though. Episode 7 was the only real clunker. I get the reason for it, but the execution was pretty jarring.
Ending of ep 7 is a little better/makes it maybe worthwhile. Did not need to be a whole episode imo. Feel like it really threw dynamics awry.
Finished it this afternoon thought it was really good. Glad they're planning more, don't mind that they didn't really leave an obvious open thread for next season. They're going to have to skip a bunch of puberty years anyway, think it makes sense
Okay, so between my three recaps, I wrote somewhere in the ballpark of 4,000 words on this season. Granted, they were recaps so it's not all analysis, but I did try to put that in there as much as I could. Plus, the music post will easily run another 1,000 words or so when I get that done. But here are some of my quick thoughts on it. Loved the new characters. Max, Billy, Bob, and Murray all played their parts well. I also felt like everything they did relationship wise with the characters worked. None of it felt forced. Nancy and Steve taking on the sort of mentor roles to the kids feels like a plus for both of their characters. Considering how much I wrote on it the last two days, I could go on and on and on haha. Instead, I'll just drop my contributor link for anyone who wants to know more of what I thought. But basically, I still love this show. Final recap is still pending, but will be up soon. I only watched the first season once but I remember Dustin being the most likable of the kids, but this season the writers Ron Weasly’d him and he was pretty insufferable most of the time. To those who have seen the first season more recently, does he feel like the same character? It felt like the baton of being shitty was just passed from Lucas to Dustin in between seasons
Dustin seems like the smartest one last season. He was a good mediator when things when south within the party , too. This year he makes terrible decisions and is a bit more selfish in what he wants.
The reverb on the snap when Dustin said Mindflayer, and that whole corresponding conversation was fantastic.
