I don't think anyone would disagree. Pretty sure it might be fair to say it's one of Winona's best performances. At least in my book.
finished my rewatch last night: -liked Steve more this time knowing how the end plays out -Liked Ryder the first time around, liked her even more this time. Found her actions less over the top knowing how crazy things get. -the last episode fucks me right up still
Strange so many like Steve. I personally hated that he was redeemed so easily. But, I suppose I've heard........ stranger things.
I don't get how people can hate Joyce. Ryder's performance is incredible, and while it can be frustrating to watch a lot of the things she does, particularly her emotional abandonment of Jonathan, its hard to hate her for it given the circumstances.
Like I said. Really sways for me. Some episodes she steals the show and others she seems like a caricature to me. She probably had the hardest role in the show though. Her character has consistently emotional scenes without much else to measure her against. Hope she has an arc in the new season that shows more sides to character.
I didn't like Steve at first but he's really not so bad (I don't think he was there when the graffiti thing happened?) I mean he broke Jonathan's camera but dude was being a creep
I want the season 1 blu-ray for the packaging alone, that’s so rad. I should definitely rewatch season one. For the most part I remember thinking it was just decent until I got to “The Body” and then it hit greatness for me. I’m excited for season two, but also cautiously optimistic as I love the idea of short, self contained stories. Something about shows that are open ended in their longevity gives me anxiety.
Upon rewatch, knowing that he ends up with Nancy, I tried to watch him closely to see why she would ever choose him. And this time, I get it. It’s all subtle quick lines and moments that show a small part of someone who genuinely cares about Nancy. He wasn’t the one who spray painted the message, but he goes to clean it up. It’s him cleansing his soul/conscience.
Steve is a hero. He only just learns of the monster not two minutes before rushing back in and wailing on it
This is best understood after seeing the first season and knowing she was right 100%. Until you know that it does come across as a bit weird.
He doesn't do anything wonderful for me either, I just sympathized with him for what he's going through with his mom and brother. Everyone who thought he should be boyfriend at the end I thought was wrong. They didn't really have great chemistry. TBH, I think she should be single.
