I disagree that the audience is in the same shoes as the characters on the show. I can’t argue their intention, but the actual show is pretty clear.
Wait, nevermind I just reread the synopsis and misremembered: Henry was posessed the Mind Flayer back in Nevada, and eventually assaulted another kid. That is why hks family moved to Hawkins to start high school but the whole play still takes place before he kills his family.
Oh no, you're right that the show clearly wants you to assume she's alive, but it's left just unresolved enough to be bittersweet.
Well, it’s still bittersweet with her alive. She is not with Hop or Mike. But there is hope for a future and her own family one day.
But why aren’t they in jail for all the mass murdering of nameless army guys they did? Did they say 11 was controlling them and now they love the army? And it’s guys?
The mass murdering of soldiers is the biggest “plot hole”, I guess. The military would have absolutely murdered every single one of them on the spot and covered it up, but this is not that kind of show. Eleven “died”, all is forgiven
My assumption based on the other revelations we got is that it was an off books/black mission that was very much "if you get caught or die we do not know you" type of thing
Especially after what Owens said last year about there's competing sects within the govt and their attitudes towards Eleven and the experiments and etc.
in my head Owens was given control over that military operation from Dr. Kay and got the cast off scott free
Thought they nailed the ending - sure it was cheesy and we can nit pick all day but at the end of it I’m pleased with what they did with the characters
This is true but iirc, a newspaper clipping Nancy looked at in S4 showed he was 12. So they did, at the least, retcon his age
We are at such a weird stage in popular culture where people simultaneously don’t care about the quality of art or to dig deeper into older works and also obsess over dumb minutiae in the McDonalds of TV shows
