Finished it like an hr ago and feeling more positive the more I think about it. The epilogue was almost pitch perfect. Pretty satisfying episode and resolution overall. Still some rough dialogue but not to the point it ruined it. And I woulda liked to see an actual resolution to the kids in the desert instead of cutting away and not seeing them again until they get cut out of the monster - kinda felt like they nailed the entire Holly and Derek story only to hand wave its most climactic moment.
What was the deal with the book at the end? Are they implying that the whole show was a D&D campaign from the book?
There’s an interview where they say it’s not gonna be any of the characters, the 80s, the upside down or anything related to it, so barely sounds like a spin off to me and not just a brand new show lol I assume it’ll be some other govt conspiracy thing tjo
I thought the finale was pretty bad. I've always said this isn't some prestige show and it's just schlocky dumb fun but there are some pretty big things you're just expected to ignore with the finale. Nancy and Hopper killed multiple US Army soldiers...and they are just released? Mike didn't see any of the stuff with Kali dying, how would he make that story up? I thought the big battle with the spider was just kind of boring. The Mike/El goodbye scene was brutally acted, purple reign was an odd song choice for that part. Epilogue was great (if you ignore all of the stuff that they just sweep aside) and it really highlights why this season was kind of frustrating; this show is at it's best when it's the characters all interacting with each other, not giant CG monster fights. One of the weaker seasons, somehow rushed and bloated at the same time. Still a decently fun show overall though
I don't think it's hard to believe that Hopper told everyone how Kali died? Lol. You don't think people would be like "hey, what happened to her????"
Yeah I’d say it’s definitely the weakest season, all felt like buildup for the finale. The other ones had some room to breathe and develop the different homages
Thank you David, for at least trying to have a conversation with me about this. Do you have any idea what scene it was that would've hinted at it?
