I don’t know if I was expecting any different, but I did enjoy that Holly’s little group of friends at the end included her two girlfriends, Derek, and the boy she was crushing on lol
I’ll probably go back and rewatch seasons 1-3 this summer. The first 3 almost felt like a different show than seasons 4-5
I know it was totally played out, but this has got to be one of the best scenes in the show. I mean, there was a reason it was a meme and resurrected this song.
when he was alive he appeared on New Girl and had an exclusive CD deal with Target so no I don't think he'd been above Netflix if it involved money haha
Also just want to reiterate how awesome the soundtrack is to this show. The main theme, the upside down, and the two “Kids” songs are all so good, with Kids especially just oozing warm and fuzzy nostalgia to me. Just brings me back to being a kid somehow, and I have a lot of trouble sharing pics of my kid(s) having a good time playing without using that song for the post lol
Well, to be fair, in the case of New Girl he was a massive fan and a Nick and Jess shipper and said he would only do it if he could get the two of them together lol
sure but it's still a network television show on Fox - people acting like he was super stingy all the time with his music is weird haha
Well come on, the Prince of 1989 that still played ball with WB was not the same one of the ‘90s and 2000s. Totally a fool’s errand to guess what Prince would do since he really was a madman when it came to controlling and licensing his music and that’s on me for making the argument. But when he died, I think his music was only streaming on Tidal, if anywhere. He was known to regularly take down fan videos of his live performances on YouTube because he wanted full control of where his stuff got posted and streamed. It took someone else taking control to get it on Spotify, so I think there’d be some hard negotiations to get him to budge on that. But who knows. He was a weird guy!
I really wanna do another rewatch now, but I know in a year or so we’re gonna sit down and watch it with our son for the first time and I’ll try and just wait until then and I’m so excited for that. but will be hard to deny the itch to start a season 1 watch around Halloween
Is there a debate going on online about if 11 survived or not? I really liked how it was paced narratively. I personally love the idea that Will is having to make meaning of it to carry on based on his chat with Hopper, but she did sacrifice herself. (lol unless they revisit these characters down the line.)
I'm glad I finished the S4 finale literally 2 hours before the series finale. Feels good to have wrapped up a full watch in a month.
Yep, plenty of debate about it. At first I said I wanted to believe she lived, but the more I sit on it, the more I think it's a better ending if she truly did sacrifice herself.
I like the idea that the storyteller created a myth within the story. I think that’s some pretty rich narrative depth for a show that used d&d as an anchor.
no, but the whole point of the last two seasons has been Henry's backstory, how this all started, and how to defeat him. Why show the high school as part of his core memories and show the play flyer with joyce and hopper's names on it if they weren't going to do anything with that? Just seems like just small weird choices to have scenes where the characters explain their plans for 5 minutes using 80s analogies and props but not spend the time on these lore threads that help build the world and the story? Also, rewatching with kaitie this morning and what happened to "if the mind dies, the body dies"? Shouldn't Will have died since he was part of the hive mind when Vecna and the Flayer died? Not trying to nitpick, but again, some of the writing and choices here were not satisfying or executed right imo.
