S3 was the most dumb and fun (I mean that in a good way) popcorn summer madness baby. I’m a little unclear on the mind Flayer bits. Like was that the actual mind Flayer or was it just meant to look like it and represent it. Really loved the mayor actor showing up and knock of Arnold.
Pretty sure it's the Mind Flayer. Which I think is technically just Vecna, and Henry is the poor soul controlled by the Mind Flayer, but we will see in the finale I guess
Yeah, I've been leaning this way too. I don't think she can be trusted but not necessarily because she has some secret agenda. She wants to take down Vecna but is also probably going to want herself and Eleven to stay stuck in the Abyss for the reasons she already stated. Maybe they solve this by all losing their powers somehow? Who knows
The trailer for the finale wasn't bad anyways It's hilarious to me that there's a petition demanding supposed cut scenes be released when the last three episodes clearly should have been condensed into an hour at best lol
I'm glad I generally don't see internet discourse over entertainment. I watched the 3 episodes today and popped into this thread to learn all I need to know. The episodes, and the whole series, were enjoyable and fine, this isn't prestige TV it's fun scifi
not sure I buy that people who don't like s3 don't like the whole show lol. incredibly different tone and stakes from every other season, doesn't advance the main plot at all and every character Flanderised to hell
Honestly 4 might be my favorite outside of 1, great simple storyline and escalation. Still think it’s a good show with great moments, hoping they pack a lot into this finale.
i was initially fatigued by the idea of 4, but really liked a lot of it. mostly feel the same way about 5, although i'm very much ready for this show to be over (even though i'm looking forward to the finale, which i can't watch until the day after since i have NYE plans)
agreed with this. to me the Hawkins scenes in 4 are so easily the best storyline in the whole show and I like the rest enough that it doesn't let the season down 4 also feels by far the best director- and cinematography wise to me, miles ahead of how clunky 5 has been
Season 4 is good. I just think 1) it’s too long and 2) the giant info drop between vecna and el was just too much and made vecna less scary and a bit of a brat imo. I haven’t liked him as a villain ever since. If I was in the group I’d just bully him tbqh
Finally caught the last three episodes leading to the finale and I basically agree with the non-insane criticism that this was really poorly paced with some highlights. I think the big problem is this is basically one big mission, so there’s no high school drama or any kind of fun situation to break up the action, so they have to shoehorn these heart-to-hearts in a way that doesn’t feel natural. Like, almost every time, outside of Dustin and Steve, it feels like the show slams on the brakes. And the dialogue, by and large, is so damn clunky. Why does everyone start their conversations by withholding the important part that the other characters need to be told immediately so they all have to ask questions? Anyway, I do hope the finale is a good time and this is just getting over the procedural episode hump.
I thought I would finish S4 tonight because I'm on the last two episodes and forgot the finale is 2.5 hours long lol. Tbh this season is flying by regardless, I forgot how good it was.
