Never have I rolled my eyes harder than when Nancy popped out of the top of the truck with a machine gun and starting gunning army guys down. I guess she is Rambo now? Hair is kinda close to his
That's a good one, but that show also seemed to fly so far under the radar it makes me sad. Incredible show.
The Leftovers S3 was firing on all cylinders. and considering that David Lynch died before anything resembling a S4 got off the ground, i'd throw Twin Peaks S3 in that list too.
I may be missing something, but that whole scene seemed unnecessary to me. There are clearly other entry points into the Upside Down, and it doesn't look like they brought along anything that wouldn't fit on their persons? Unless the truck itself is the bomb? It seemed like it was just a way to get Scott involved with the final act. Security sure seemed lax for a base where an inter-dimensional demon just telekinesised a hundred dudes to death. I think that's my only type of gripe with this season, though? There have just been a few more moments when I have struggled to suspend my disbelief than I can recall in previous seasons. I don't feel compelled to climb on the internet and demand things be altered to suit my preferences, though. That shit is wild.
I swear I read a take recently that said something about Season 1 being the best and only good season of that show and I almost feinted.
I feel like Barry flew under the radar, especially the finale because it wasn’t as explosive as most of the last season. Was kind of a weird finale.
Finally caught up and this has prob been the worst season so far but I’m still enjoying it enough. Have really enjoyed the Holly plot and most of the first batch of episodes was awesome. Last couple have been iffy but also think people are going overboard with trashing the coming out scene. Finn Wolfhard has improved as an actor and I feel a lot more optimistic for his future career prospects than I did before thanksgiving for sure. Overall I preferred the show being less convoluted (which as good as season 4 was really was launched into potential problem territory there), but it feels like most of the backlash is people being upset with the 3 year wait/how much the actors have aged. When every episode is a blockbuster movie I kinda get it. And half that rumored cut stuff sounds terrible.
I probably did say that just being a lil stinker. I think that show is fine overall. Truly don’t get the insane hype for it.
S3 isn't even my favorite of the show (i have a soft spot for the way S2 played out), but it really nailed the tone of a good final season while simultaneously paying homage to elements from the first two seasons and also carving out its own thematic identity
i've never really watched Mad Men, but i could've sworn i had heard that the show had a handful of mixed reviews near the end of its run only for it to shoot back up in the last stretch of episodes?
i really need to watch it. my partner showed me Good Girls a few years ago and i really liked Christina Hendricks on that (even though i had very mixed opinions on the show as a whole), so i'd love to see her work on Mad Men (her gay Republican bit on Hacks is also great)
the second to last season was just OK but the other 6 are incredibly consistent. Personally didnt love the finale but that’s more of an opinion thing, it was objectively at least good
Haha, ok, in your defense: I was kinda misremembering what you said and had forgotten it was you. In my defense: THIS IS WHAT I FOUND SEARCHING your name and leftovers (also a lot of food talk).
y'know what? i agree with Grim here. the beginning of food leftovers is better than what comes after it
I haven’t seen a show be this present on socials in a minute. Whether or not people are saying nice things, they seem to have captured the cultural moment. Also I’ve been watching all the cast and crew interviews and no one seems to be bummed. Seems like a lot of goodwill and celebration.
