I've seen numerous reports that Will's scene took 12 hours to shoot and 12 hours of reshoots That can't be a true report can it lol
they actually filmed it with just Will and Joyce first then added another character every hour. the deleted scenes twitter is crashing out about are just the coming out scene but Argyle is there too
I finally got to watch all three tonight and that coming out scene for Will felt disappointing for me. They’ve been indicating for literally a decade now that this character is gay and along the way they’ve given the fans some genuinely beautiful moments for this character that, despite the actor’s abilities or shitty personal beliefs outside the show, had me feeling like they’d stick the landing after all these years of buildup. I felt certain of that after the ending of episode four this season. They’ve proven in the past that they’re more than capable of delivering character driven moments of triumph and heartbreak and I knew going into this season that obviously they were going to finally address Will’s sexuality so it was the one thing I was most looking forward to. I wanted to see them give us Will’s “Dear Billy” episode (though I guess the argument could be made that episode four was that episode) and instead I got a rushed scene near the end of the penultimate episode that feels awkwardly placed given their circumstances. I just felt like he deserved better and the subject matter deserved better and yes, I understand that his moment of truth is paramount to having the inner strength and confidence to face Vecna. I just wish it had played out…in a better written scene I guess.
I think it would amaze some of you how long the simplest scene takes. Especially when adding multiple characters.
Hahaha I just saw that people have convinced themselves that these three episodes are intentionally bad because “we are under Vecna’s spell” and it will all be revealed to be a fake vision
coworker this morning said they didn’t like the season cuz of mbbs botox and because they turned robin autistic. i think ill avoid talking to anyone else about it the rest of the day.
Thanks! I hate it! my wife was filling me in on the backlash. I think it’s people expressing their sadness it’s over in the most modern internet way possible. The low rating and petition are wild to me.
I’m happy we will get the final Henry flashback. I really want the Mind Flayer to show back up and be sentient in some way with dialogue or if it had a back and forth Vecna was interacting with but we only get the Vecna side of it that would be cool. I saw an interview with the Duffer Brothers that said they almost revealed the wormhole plot in season 2 and kept kicking it down the road. I dont have any big gripes with season 5. I think if Vecna had been teased as a mystery in 2 or 3 and some of the big reveals had been sprinkled throughout this season would be a little more fleshed out, but I don’t think they’ve whiffed at all the way the internet seems to be feeling. the Will ending from vol 1 was truly an insane movie level cinematic set piece, we got the upside down lore explained with the wormhole, and Will’s scene was very emotive and impactful. It was purely about his humanity and left out all the supernatural and rallied the crew bringing the most vulnerable character who was a victim in season 1 as an empowered self actualized vital part of the team. I can understand after the bar set on 4 people hoping to be blown away again, but this season is about bringing it home and wrapping it up for me. I think it’s been more than adequate. Show is crushing, the press junkets have been a big bum out. They keep asking the same 3 or 4 questions over and over. Need a 3 hour pod with the duffer brothers hitting all of the bts, lore questions, and anecdotes after the finale.
These episodes are already so bloated I couldn't possibly imagine what they actually cut. And I'm saying that as someone who is generally enjoying this season. I guarantee there would be none of this discourse if they just released them all at once like they previously did. I know there's a lot of discourse around that being good or bad, but I do think for this show in particular it's better to binge. I couldn't even imagine how rough this would be if it were weekly
Was Game Of Thrones the last time there was such a backlash to a final season? Or it seems more visible for this show as it feels like the internet landscape, and the world overall, is just full of ragebait now vs. 2019 or when S1 got released
When was the last time there was praise for the end of a series? After all the clear bot spamming of RT and IMdB I basically stopped even looking at ratings of anything online because I assume it’s mad man children and not indicative of anything.
I understand people still enjoying this show based on a decade of watching these characters in this story but man is this a mess I forget what he says, but Schnapp has an off-screen line read in episode 5 that is so bad I had to rewind it. Can’t think of a child actor who’s grown so exponentially worse in a role over time. He was good in season one. It’s like the Benjamin Button of acting careers. I’ve gone from worrying every major character is going to survive the show to actively hoping they do. There’s, what, two hours left? How are they going to lose anyone from the main group while giving the surviving characters enough time to reckon with the loss in any meaningful way while still wrapping up the lore, as exhausting as it is?
Andor ended a front-to-back near flawless run just this year. Only two seasons, but still Succession, Barry
