I think the summer vibe of season 3 and Billy all work really well. Couldn’t care less about anything Russian lol
I get why everyone is going with that, but knowing the show and its origins/influences, it’s almost definely a Goonies doubloon reference
oh man I’ve spent this whole season thinking El looks ridiculous but familiar and I couldn’t place it. Now I need Hopper to call her “Mike” by accident, “It’s El, Dad”
i agree, it's not the greatest of the series but it's not the worst like ppl are making it out to be either. the crashouts on tiktok are so hyperbolic
I don't think they're in line with part 1 but they're definitely still enjoyable. I have my critiques but I'm still excited for the finale

Season 1 is still the best season overall, imo, but 2 is underrated, just doesn’t have the new fresh nostalgia feel to it that 1 did for obvious reasons. 3 is not as good as 1 storywise, but it really really nailed the 80s summer blockbuster thing, right down to the fact that the story itself doesn’t need to be super great, it just needs to be good and the entertainment factor will carry the rest. And I actually really loved the Russian stuff because, again, 80s. I think 3 is right there with 1 for me even if it isn’t actually as good storywise. It’s just too much damn fun. 4 is great imo, but does feel its length at times, and while I love the 80s horror vibes, I like 80s summer action blockbuster vibes more haha. So it goes a bit below 3 for me.
Agree season 3 wasn't the greatest writing in the show but damn did it look great and was a lot of fun. The Mindflayer made of flesh was so fucking creepy I did hate the Russian stuff, though
Murray going “it’s funny” without actually laughing and then Steve hitting him and him doing the karate chop motions at Steve is so funny to me for some reason. And then him saying “don’t take that, Jim” a few seconds later…lol
At first I was wondering why Steve was so angry about Robin straight up complimenting him until I realized she was talking about his car lol
Yeah it's a bit fucked how inspirational Max's speech was to Holly just to do her dirty like that lol. Obviously Max didn't know, but damn, thats a horrifying way to wake up when you think you're home free
The only things I remember about the Russian stuff was I liked the Russian that liked red Slurpees and the ending would have given Hopper a hero’s ending but they just couldn’t let him stay dead.
Honestly the tone in this forum is shockingly optimistic compared to Twitter, which is having a cataclysmic melt down over Vol. 2. While it's far from confirmed, there are credible reports of last-minute re-edits where several scenes were cut from Episodes 5-7, which explains why the original runtimes on IMDB were inaccurate to the final release. Also, I've seen a lot of criticism directed towards the coming out scene, which is mostly valid, but is expressed in the most hyperbolic & disproportionate way that I feel like I'm going crazy. (respectfully, I get the allegory but calling Vecna a rapist is wild) I'm still excited for the finale, but it really does feel like there's this shadow of controversy looming over this volume that's just sucked the joy out of the discourse.
