I haven't watched this season yet, but I'm glad that they called back that episode instead of leaving it as a loose thread and caving in to negative vibes. Complete the circle, fuck the haters. Make it mean something.
I think the episode is whatever but Kali is cool as hell so I'm for it. leaving that dangling would be crazy
I really never understood all the hate for it, I always assumed it was just people mad that we had ended the previous episode on a cliff hanger with our main crew and then had to wait an entire episode to get back to them.
end of ep 4 was fucking awesome. i was relieved vecna's cheesy "one... last... time" line wasn't actually in the show until i realized it must just happen later on. also love robin's "beam me up" shirt
Agreed that the episodes are pretty enjoyable. I still think there are way too many characters and they should have pruned some last season. Also, with all the characters, with Dustin being all angsty, Robin is really having to handle all of the comic relief. Thank the lord that Maya Hawke has the chops to do that. It also definitely has the Netflix thing of a character needing to repeat what the objective is like every 20-30 minutes. Like, how many times does someone need to say that Vecna needs to be defeated?

It does feel like this portion is very “explaining the plan” heavy. Like, besides the jocks and Dustin and maybe a little bit of The Squawk, everything has been centered around the group planning something, executing the plan and planning again. It’s like how the last season of HIMYM was just about the wedding. Also, funny how pretty much all the merch is centered around The Squawk and how that only plays into, like, two episodes. Feels like they really want that to be the new Hellfire Club logo they want everyone to wear.
the radio tower is definitely coming back in the next batch, there's a shot of it in the trailers we haven't seen yet
Yeah that's definitely gonna continue to be their base for the duration of the show when they're in Hawkins and not in the Upside Down. Could even see them using it in the Upside Down actually. But I do want more DJ Robin at some point
Trailer shows a shot where the smoke monster from lost climbs up the radio tower. Definitely think the tower is going to be a 'portal' for mind flayer to come right side up.
