funniest part of this season to me is that the big cliffhanger ending to s4 with the multiple gates opening up has had exactly no bearing on the plot so far
Was there any shenanigans revealed that caused the radio tower cable to disconnect? I thought there was going to be a reveal that the military did it, or something spooky with Vecna lol
Yeah it's the entire reason the military is there and they're under lockdown. And then serves as a way for all them monsters to abruptly come out in episode 4
His original plan clearly was stalled by them burning his body to a crisp too lol. The gates/rift happened but he couldn’t finish the job and now the military is there and most of it is sealed off so he’s adjusting course
Making Dustin intolerable is certainly a choice lol. I get the whole Eddie trauma stuff but like…I don’t wanna sit through scenes with his character
I obviously get that teens make dick jokes but uhh I think they took that exchange just one line too far lol It's like Finn turned into his It character for a second
i honestly can’t stop thinking about this lol. If I was in their shoes it would be like the only thing I talked about
lol yeah I'm exaggerating a bit but the end of s4 seemed to imply the UD was fully leaking into the normal world with the flowers dying and the storm in the sky. then the govt just... slapped a big metal bandaid on it and I guess stopped it entirely because the world is still normal 18 months later? not where I thought that cliffhanger was going I might need to watch it again but did any of the monsters actually come out of the big gates at all this season? demos can just make small temporary gates whenever they want
Vecna game out of the main gate. Some demos came up from under the metal playing during the army attack at the end.
Well as of episode 4, it seems as though Dustin has discovered that the upside down is just ‘under’ Hawkins/the surrounding area. There’s a big gooey wall circle around the general Hawkins area and we don’t know what, if anything, is on the other side.
Wait, what? I thought he figured out that the middle of the walled off area is Hawkins Lab. But the upside down version. Unless I missed something, I don’t understand where you’re getting the “below” concept.
He was/is. He came out of retirement specifically to direct the episode because he loved the show so much. looks like he also did episode 5 as well
Still mad at AMC for cheapskating him out of the Walking Dead. There’s a better world out there where HBO bought the rights instead and hired Darabont and gave him all the budget he wanted. Maybe in the Upside Down.
Honestly the kids actors' ages don't really bother me. The main party are now all supposed to be Junior Year of High School, the same age Steve/Nancy/Jon were in S1, and with that in mind they look about how I'd expect them to. (Holly looking like a 8th grader but playing a 4th grader is a little confusing but Nell's acting is good enough I can forgive it.) I think people are mostly mad the show didn't turnaround fast enough to get more seasons of them while they were adorable & childlike, but they still look more like teenagers than many other "high school" shows (a la. Euphoria, Riverdale). Anyways the season rocks so far, the reveal at the end of Episode 4 was so well executed. Millie's dialogue is still a little stilted, Dustin & Steve's bickering is a little frustrating, and Robin's "dick" scene gave me second-hand embarassment, but all-in-all I'm having fun seeing these characters I love again.
they tried to do a quick turnaround with s2 while the actors were still tiny and that season is pretty unanimously considered the worst at least in the circles I'm in. seems like after that one they decided the actors growing up was worth it to take the time and actually deliver a good season, which I'm personally all for that rocks, very cool
You say that like the Walking Dead franchise has lost the plot, but just this year they *checks notes* had Daryl kill the King of Spain. Ah, fuck
