sure except Will and Robin starting to be friends. oh and Mike having really nice family moments with Holly and Nancy for the first time in like 4 seasons. oh and Hopper flirting with Joyce. and yeah
The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was El again mostly being split off from the majority of the group yet again. I’m glad we got good time with her and Hop, but she’s been separated from the rest of the party so often.
Halfway through episode 2 and I find myself wondering why these people don’t stop and ask themselves “hmmm could that be Vecna?” more often
Idk anything about what’s to come, but I’m confident they would be so much further ahead of the game if they were doing this lol
It’s the Mr. Whatsit stuff that’s kinda driving me down this path, but also Lucas being the only who clocked that the Holly thing and Will’s original thing are nearly identical is funny to me
Loved the Goonies and Alien references in episode 4. Don't love how easily they come up with these plans, but the kids are all crushing this season. Mike is especially non-annoying finally. Love the Robin/Will and Mike/Nancy character pairings in particular. Show rocks. Ready for Christmas.
Just finished woooooo goddamn what a ride. Figured Will would play a part, wasn’t sure he’d get full on powers. Vecna didn’t seem to think Will had that in him, but I’m guessing the plan is to take those kids and give them his powers and then command them as his own personal army? 008 being in the room wasn’t surprising, we knew it wasn’t Vecna, we were guessing it was either another thing from the upside down that was beefing with Vecna or someone else with powers. We guessed 008 was a possibility. Very interested to see what’s going on there. Presumably she will be part of the fight now, but how so will be interesting. Will be interesting to see if Henry knows her or not, it seemed like El’s earliest memories of him were post-008 escaping, and her power is completely different from everyone else’s, so might be a surprise to Henry/001/Vecna. The Max reveal was another one where we were trying to figure out who was back there and she was a guess but we weren’t sure at first. At first we thought the cliffs were the wall and that whoever was on the other side might be related to who they had in the lab. But now I really wanna know how she told Holly to get out and what will be the impetus for her to get out of the cave and try again. Also really want to know why Henry was so scared of the cave. Gonna assume it’s related to the Boy Scouts thing Really don’t want to wait another month lol
Through episode two, feels like this show has lost whatever magic it found again in season 3 but might as well finish at this point also feels like four years has been more than enough time for the Wheeler kids to at least be like, hey mom and dad we’re not gonna get into the whole thing rn but if the lights ever start doing weird shit get outta here
Anyways, just finished this. I really enjoyed it. And damn this show looks good. Netflix put down the big bucks. Pissed we have to wait a month for the rest. Also I know people are gonna bitch about Will having powers, but I think it's rad as hell and that was a really cool fucking ending.
?? I think physically seeing a Demogorgan backing up their claims is reason enough. He could immediately see they weren't just making shit up
what's up with this fat kid why is he a character demogorgons look pretty cheap to me. doesn't feel like 500 million budget episodes
Good season so far. I'm mixed on a lot of individual components, but the whole is good: -Where S4 felt bloated, this season strangely feels like it's not breathing enough. So much happens in short spaces and I feel like there is exposition everywhere. Thankfully, the story itself is good enough it doesn't ruin it. -Noah Schnapp is such a weird actor. When he's convulsing or crying or screaming, he's excellent. When he's just talking, he sounds so awkward. Millie Bobbie Brown has also become more this way each season... It's like they learned how to nail the big moments but forgot they have to act in between. -I get Robin as a vessel for Will coming into his own. It's a good pairing. But the inspirational speech that preempts his powers should have come from Jonathan. It just doesn't have much emotional heft or history coming from Robin and would have really strengthened Jonathan's character. -Steve is so much more likeable and a worthier fit for Nancy. It's frustrating me that they're broadcasting Jonathan proposing to Nancy while they refrain from making him any more likeable.[ -Natalia Dyer is the MVP so far. She's always been good, but she's Emmy-worthy here in a sea of mixed performances. -Holly Wheeler's actress is good. But the age difference from S1 to now is the most jarring. How old is she supposed to be?
After reading all these nitpicky takes, I think I'll stay away from this thread now. Bunch of debbie downers. The first four episodes were fun as hell and I'm just enjoying the ride. I like how Lucas called this the final battle. After so many years, it's just nice to see the whole gang together and kicking ass.
I like to pick a nit as much as the next person but truly who is watching this show for like, airtight plotting and narrative lmao. it has always been about the vibes
The vibes and story go hand in hand though. The pacing, story structure, character behaviors contribute to the vibe. And for me it felt a little off.
Already saw on IG that apparently the reason why Henry is afraid of that cave was revealed in that Stranger Things play, and already seeing some other theories about what his plan is with the 12 kids
Huh? I thought the Demogorgans looked great and that you could tell they put a good chunk of the budget towards them
