I don't know who else has Netflix with ads, but the Discover Card tie-in ad with Nancy is so annoying.
I love a good secondary antagonist who gets in the way of the protagonists taking on the main antagonist because of their sheer arrogance and ignorance of the wider plot at hand. I hate the military guys so much this season lol Same with the jock guys last season. Stranger Things is good at that particular trope.
Finished watching the first 4. Overall I’m a little underwhelmed. Not a fan of Dustin’s character this season or the approach of them hunting Venca and how it’s structured the story. The pacing has also been all over the place. I think the acting this season might also be some of the worst of the show. I do like that the characters are interacting much more with each other. Also the reveal of Max helping out Holly Overall I’d give the first 4 episodes like a 6 out of 10.
Finished. As far as the episode 4 midseason ending reveals went: Eleven finding Eight being experimented on by the army was unexpected and surprising but meh in execution frankly I forgot that character and subplot existed. One of the weakest subplots of the series to bring back at the end Will having Vecna powers and control of Demigorgons, and basically becoming a "good wizard" was heavily telegraphed the first 3 episodes and expected, but was pretty fucking sick in execution.
I guess the ending makes sense to set up Now the protagonists have 3 people with powers against Vecna going into the final run instead of just 1 to tip the scales. Plus you got Max and Holly in the dreamspace, and I am sure that will have some powers stuff with it. That might push it to 4 or 5. Holly having abilities was teased earlier in the season.
For some reason I thought this was a 12 episode season released in two batches of 6. I hate this release schedule Fun season so far. But I think the "kids with special powers" aspect of the show is by far the weakest part and now Will having special powers is pretty lame. It's a lot more fun when it's just teens with baseball bats trying to survive. I liked that the kids home alone traps fucked up a demigorgen more than a literal army of soldiers with machine guns.
Hard agree. Things are getting really whacky and I’m not enjoying it. Also the same slash attack that killed the army somehow left the parents alive? Real dumb. Duffs are afraid to kill the cast and it makes for silly moments. If you want them to survive don’t leave a hugely gnashed neck and say she’s gonna be fine.
Was Holly supposed to be dressed like Dorothy from Wizard of Oz in the dreamworld or am I overthinking that?
Been a big Dustin fan but he and most everyone else feels super unlikeable so far this season. The whole tone just feels off to me. Making Steve and Dustin pissed at each other is certainly a choice
I don't like how fast he was suddenly so down with the plan after being such a dick with no explanation as to what changed his mind.
seems like they're pretty clearly going somewhere with them being pissed off with each other, it's not just random writing. feels like they actually wanted to flesh out the relationship after them being buddy buddy for three seasons
First couple episodes was just everyone yelling at each other, not just Dustin and Steve. Holly gave me Alice in Wonderland vibes, going to the rabbit hole/dream sequence.
