Wednesday and Squid have more views, and ST S4 is the only one in top 10. List of most-watched Netflix original programming - Wikipedia
"Hyping up" was a poor choice of words on my part. I haven't watched any of the show but definitely felt the cultural significance when S1 dropped and quite literally everyone I knew was talking about it. Feel like that completely vanished with S2 and definitely with 3. Shocking to see how popular it is.
I'm saying in regards to Stranger Things. S2 had more views than S1. S3 had more views than S2. S4 had more views than S3, etc. I think it's the only Netflix show that has gained more views with every season also. Most shows on Netflix have their most viewed seasons being S1. It's the opposite for stranger things.
Tbf I think part of the reason why the first season was such a big deal is it was one of the first streaming shows for all ages to become that huge that fast. What streaming shows were popular before that one? House of Cards but clearly an adults only show. Same with Orange is the New Black. I feel like I’m forgetting a few others but ST felt like when streaming a tv show really broke through to everyone
Also, if the latest season had the most views, that only means it's increasing in popularity over time, doesn't it?
That's true. Stranger Things viewership has always gone up instead of down. Probably due to the seasons taking so long to make and the grow in subscriber count for Netflix in-between seasons. I think Stranger Things hits the perfect mark to where it retains its older fans, while attracting newer/younger fans each season due to its subject matter.
I think it could because it's the final season and the finality could draw in more people, but on the flip side, the episodes being released in 3 parts could cause people to wait until all of the episodes are out before they watch any of it.
I do think a lot of the younger online fandom has either outgrown the show or soured on it on account of Noah Schnapp's Zionism. I'm sure it'll still do tremendous streaming numbers, but I do worry the temperature of the online reception won't be as positive as it has been historically.
