last season was basically A Nightmare On Elm Street featuring Kate Bush 3 was Terminator 2 and Mall nostalgia
I mean, 1 was E.T. There's plenty to criticize about this show, we don't have to pretend it wasn't always a love letter to influences/the 80s lol
Yeah every season has been a fantastic love letter to some aspect of the 80s (well multiple things, but obviously had a specific heavier influence that was obvious)
Though saying that…what was season 2’s? That one felt like the least “yeah this is definitely based on this specific 80s thing” and felt more like a continuation of the first season than anything else.
Currently doing a re-watch. The most egregious thing season 4 does is try to pass off Arizona as California.
granted I didn’t spend nearly enough time there to really know, but some of inland southern Cali did seem very desert-y haha. But I forget where Will and El were actually supposed to live. Need to do a rewatch
I'm from the California desert, we definitely do have a lot of desert. The neighborhood is the dead giveaway though, nothing looks like that. I guess it was actually Albuquerque, not Arizona though.
For what it's worth, I totally thought the neighborhood was in the San Fernando Valley at first, which is where I live. Actually forgot it was filmed in Albuquerque until now, although it makes a lot of sense now.
Been rewatching this. Ended up liking season 3 a lot less than before. Why is will even in the show at this point lol. Whenever they split everyone up the show is worse for it.
I still think the first season is the only one that has any staying power, but I'll inevitably tune in for the final showdown, come December.
The silliness of Season 3 takes a lot of the stakes away for me. Also liked it less this last watch even if I can appreciate the summer blockbuster vibes.
Picked up the stranger thing chips ahoys after the gym. The strawberry filling isn’t very strong. There’s a slight taste, not as much as I had hoped. 6/10 cookies
