Ngl, I don’t hate the roll out. I only hate that it’s so late. Would have preferred to get part 1 4th of July and Part 2 Halloween

 

sure its dumb but imma watch the shit out of it.

 

I mean maybe it's just me, but I always watched movies on Christmas night, even as a kid. Big part of Christmas for me growing up was spending the rest of the day watching all the movies and playing all the video games I got as gifts.

 

Yeah for me it’s like Thanksgiving/Christmas are huge sports days spent with the family. I don’t see those days enhancing the roll out. If you’re going to do it like this just do it weekly. We all know these episodes are going to be 90 min-2 hours long so it’s going to take awhile to get through it regardless.

 

I don’t mind the roll out. Looking forward to the final season

I’ve gotten used to the various roll out strategies, and getting the fam together to watch something on Christmas isn’t a bad thing (though I wish sports hadn’t taken over Christmas too), but the problem I have is on Christmas I’m watching a Christmas movie/show, not an 80s horror/thriller show.

Feels like a dark and ugly inevitability that Christmas (or any holiday) is flying past commercialized days off and into being a vehicle for other cultural events. Just let it be Christmas, man.

 

Still more looking forward to this than not despite the negativity with the wait and actors aging.

Kind of love the rollout strategy with the exception of the New Year’s Eve finale, that strikes me as pretty dumb. Don’t imagine I’ll dive in hard on tgiv or Xmas, but those weekends, thanksgiving especially, are like peak flop on the couch and marathon shit time. Can easily see this as the 2025 Get Back moment. And I like the multiple binge drop to maintain some semblance of midseason discourse.

That said, not sure I understand putting the one episode you might be hoping/expecting somewhat synchronized viewership on a night where many/most people go out. 8pm eastern on New Year’s Day would’ve been great.

 

Potential ironic commentary on both the finale timing and how long this has taken to come out in that I was less than a year into a relationship when season 1 dropped and will have a 1 year old come new years so will likely be among those catching it live lol

Don’t necessarily agree with the sentiment but the metaphor made me laugh.

 

Rewatching some of season 4 because it's been so long.

Casting Sadie Sink was one of the smartest things this show has ever done. Sink kind of in a way helps offset how truly terrible Millie Bobby Brown's performance is. Max is my favorite character and Sadie Sink might be the MVP of this show.

 

Max is my favorite character too, but dang what is happening here??

 

Millie Bobby Brown is bad at acting. She's always been bad. I think I just feel more comfortable saying it now because she isn't a child actor anymore.

If it wasn't for Sink standing out then Brown would be the sole female lead of the young cast and it would be even more evident. Sink kinda helps even it out.

 

The fun platonic chemistry between Joe Keery and Maya Hawke is the other part of this show I love.

Also the California road trip subplot of season 4 is the worst because it's all the worst actors of the main cast secluded into their own story together for half the season.

 

i think MBB has potential to get better since they’re still super young but i can’t shake the winona quote about her not watching movies because they’re too long or whatever and not getting off her phone so who knows if the desire to improve is really there

 

She can scream and hold out her hand.

 

She's good at playing Eleven, I've never seen her in anything else

How is this new knowledge to some? Whenever they talk about The Electric State in the local grocery story it's always about how bad MBB is at acting

 

So the Tonys are next week and I guess Sadie Sink is actually favored to get the Leading Actress in a Play award.
