Okay so me and some of my friends who I watched this with have a couple theories about things. There is only one that I think is plausible, but even then, it's a long shot. so, my friend was reading up on the characteristics of the Demogorgen in DD lore. It is a two headed monster who's two heads are like ying and yang. They're opposites, they have different desires and thoughts, but they're connected. They want to kill each other, but they can't. Instead they try and get the other one to turn onto their side. That is a very simplified definition, but you get the idea. Does anyone remember when the kids were mad at El and they said to her "you're the monster", and her reply was "I am". Now, this could just mean that she was feeling bad about her self because things were getting bad. But also - all her lines are so important. Generally when she speaks it's kind of important. So, what if El and the Demogorgen are somehow connected. When El "defeats it", she approaches it and says something like "no more". Almost like she knows it's past and what it desires. The fact that El disintegrates it, and she too is gone could mean something. Also I think the first place you really see a clear shot of the Demogorgen is in the sensory deprivation tank - which is just El's brain.
That's actually a really interesting theory. Crossed my mind a bit that there might be some kind of connection when she confronted it at the end, but that theory above is much more thorough. I'd be interested to see if they touch on that next season. That's one of the things I like about the open ended nature of the finale.
I like to think I'm like Jonathan in how much he loves his brother. Him jamming out with will to help drown out fighting parents...ya that hit me right in the feels.
I understand why Lucas acts the way he does but hes definitely my least favorite character at the moment. It just seems like no matter what happens he isnt convinced that strange things are going on. Meanwhile, Hopper and El are quickly becoming two of my favorite characters in a tv show. Joyce and Nancy are also really great too. Theres a woman in the town I live in who is a lot like Joyce, she lost her son a few years back and she claims she can still hear him and talks to him.
I got halfway through the season, finishing the other half tomorrow. Already an all time favorite for me, it's TOO good.
