Yeah, the wait between Seasons is not gonna shrink this late in the game Season Two: 1 Year, 3 Months Season Three: 1 Year, 8 Months Season Four: 2 Years, 11 Months (including a 6 month delay in shooting) Based on this pattern, it'll probably be at least 2 years and 5 months until Season 5, although the Duffers have said they're going to keep it under 3 years this time.
Season 3 was much better than 4, which wasn't bad but had some big issues I think. Most have been mentioned: the writers not knowing what to do with the California crew, the Russia plotline being both ridiculous and boring at the same time. Loved the stuff in Hawkins though. Did not like Munson or Argyle and hated every minute they were on screen.
Epic epic epic epic final episode. I kinda would have loved to watch that in theaters. I'm a twisted man who always approves when shows kill people off and don't get happy endings and they delivered. Although I figured the portal was closed since Max isn't completely dead. Like, I guessed that it opened while Max died for a bit but then when eleven saved her, that stopped the threat for the moment. Alas. Not mt favorite season but God damn that final episode. Also, I did not like Argyle but duh Munson
long time fans / metal heads / dnd fans mostly. his entire arc felt extremely telegraphed to me I'm fine taking the L on having a minority opinion here but he just felt like a caricature in the same way the jock, cheerleader, argyle, newspaper nerd and band geek love interest all were caricatures. no shade if y'all like him
indeed. this is why a lot of people don't like the show. usually I still like it though. especially season 3 which was definitely "nostalgia the TV show." I loved it! season 4 just had some issues that's all
Yeah this show definitely has a lot of pandering. I think they do a lot of things well, and their original ideas are really interesting, but part of the appeal has been the pastiche of 80's movies and references and it can feel like too much sometimes.
After a couple seasons in, I'd think people would get by now that this isn't some high-prestige drama. It's always been an homage to 80's nostalgia, always been a coming-of-age in the style of E.T. or The Goonies. They're also not going to kill off any of the mains because the whole point is seeing them "grow up."
Is that why some people are so negative towards most things, that they hold everything to the standard of high prestige drama? It's one thing to be critical about the media you consume, but if the only kind of thing you actually enjoy is stuff like Mad Men and The Wire, that's... kind of sad?
