Every time I watch this I think of the absolutely insane stand up set I saw Brett Gelman do 8-9 years ago
this show has far too many great characters for a top 5 lol. leaving out like 15 absolute icons any way you do it. I refuse
It's weird, I feel like I hold the best TV shows & movies as highly as I do the best music, but at the same time I can watch the majority of stuff SO much less critically than I can listen to the majority of music, where I can't generally love something while also keeping my critical brain off. Like I think Stranger Things pretty much rules and I couldn't really care less if the California plot was meandering or if Yuri sucks or if Max's undeath was a copout. It just ruled.
This with Dustin or Nancy instead of Hopper, Steve/Max/Robin/Murray is a really solid top four for me.
They never explained why the upside down was frozen back in 1983, did they? Did I fall into a coma and miss it?
Nah, The Duffers said it's supposed to be a mystery still, but they suppose some fans will figure out before Season 5.
Indeed. If anyone has the time to read this very lengthy interview, there’s some interesting information in here: DEADLINE: You answer many of the mysteries about the Upside Down in that moment when Vecna taunts Eleven. He thinks he’s defeated her and Max’s friends, and he’s making her watch him kill Max and unlock the door to Hawkins, where he can send through his monsters. From a plotting standpoint, how long have you been salivating to drop that bombshell on the audience? ROSS DUFFER: It’s been a long time coming. We’ve always wanted to go back in the lab and the origin of all this stuff, and so, we joked in the writer’s room, this was like Stranger Things revelations. We knew we wanted to get there with this season and that’s obviously the big bombshell in the volume two. We really wanted to give the audience a lot of the big answers. There’s still a few of the question marks that remain. DEADLINE: Like? ROSS DUFFER: The biggest one being we set up in the Volume One finale how the Upside Down is stuck in time on the day of Will’s disappearance. That’s something we don’t answer in volume two, and that is really the key plot point, the key question that is going to drive our final season as we try to wrap up this story and give the rest of the answers out. https://deadline.com/2022/07/stranger-things-duffer-brothers-interview-season-five-1235058041/
Finally finished this season. Great stuff—probably my favorite the show’s ever been—but honestly those last few episodes could’ve just been divided up.
