I think it was pretty strongly implied that she lost her powers again in the resurrection, because she couldn't manipulate the coke bottle at the end which was contrasted against how she could no longer go into Max's mind.
that's not what happened, she did go into Max's mind and Max wasn't there. her consciousness/soul whatever you call it is gone
I thought she just couldn't find Max's mind. She was still able to try and go looking in that void place, there was just nothing to find
Oh, I guess I'm okay with that being the prevailing interpretation, I just don't know why they brought back the Coca-Cola motif if she still does have her powers.
I'm going to be honest and admit I have no recollection of Spin The Bottle having any significance to this show, but apparently it's a callback to S3E3, which you think I would've remembered, but I guess that's what 3 years between seasons does to you.
as much as I get why people are frustrated that the fake out death was cheap, it did directly enable/cause the “earthquake.” I’m open to arguing that the 4 chimes/deaths as the key to open the upside down into the real Hawkins was a bad idea, but if we accept that as part of the story then Max’s death/fake out wasn’t meaningless.
Initially when Max was like “I can’t see or feel anything,” I was like, “holy shit, what a way to leave this character” but then Eleven Uno Reverse
Next season is gonna be in 1990 or so, right? Shouldn't be too ridiculous aside from Dustin or Mike's inevitable mullet
Overall, I think the stuff with Max was some of the best of the entire series and Sadie Sink is such an incredible talent. The Hellfire Club was a lot of fun and I still love Steve and the crew. I could live without the Russia stuff and you could chop the Eleven storyline way down and still have it be an effective way to introduce One/Vecna. I think the Duffers are great at creating iconic moments, assembling a stellar cast and very good at paying homage without being too on the nose that it’s distracting. I don’t think they’re great with the extra time Netflix gave them and didn’t do a lot that really justified the length. They also will never take risks, but I don’t think that’s what I should be looking for in this anyway. I just am never a fan of fakeout deaths.
I can hear an argument about them being too reliant on fake out deaths. I refuse for one second to pretend what happened to Max is anywhere near as dumb as the Chewbacca sequence.
