They literally kill a major character and have another character straight up say “no” and fix it that rules I thought that “death” scene was very effective, and very well acted, and then that happens lol
Surprised by the negativity here, I thought these two absolutely fucking unabashedly ruled. Elevated the season level ruled - they were easily better than anything but the first and fourth eps from the first chunk. Not my favorite season overall, but the early reaction is the first 6 were great and these were disappointing? I don't get that at all. It was still kind of an Empire Strikes Back ending, I did kind of feel like they played it safe with not killing anyone except Eddie, though. The shot of Max with the rolled back eyes was so hard, I don't wish they killed her but it would've been a deserved bold choice. Literally laughed out loud at the Jason thing.
Okay, so Henry had seen the Mind Flayer as a kid because he was drawing pictures? But he seemingly found it in the Upside Down for the first time as an adult? Confused by that a little. Anyone care to take a stab at explaining?
I believe he drew the mind flayer as a kid bc he was a little spider freak, and then when he got to the upside down he realized he could use his powers to make it for real
I took it that the mind flayer connected with Henry somehow, knowing he was connected to whatever “force” gave him his powers, and guided him by being an all-knowing being. Fusing with Henry just gives the Mind Flayer a vessel to cross-worlds.
What Jason thing? Did something happen after Lucas hit him over the head? Maybe I looked away at the wrong time haha
Will finish the last episode tomorrow. First 1.5 hour honestly started to drag on for me, don’t think it needed to be that long if they weren’t going to keep it interesting. Still the best season since 1 though.
Wait wtf I didn’t realize part 2 was only two episodes. The whole finale I was like “fuck it’s crazy to me that this isn’t the finale. As it was wrapping up I was about to post “how is episode 9 not the finale?!”
My read on the Mind Flayer thing was definitely just that Henry was obsessed with spiders, but it’s possible I was influenced by a post someone made in here theorizing exactly that after part 1
001 was the Mind Flayer. they're not separate entities, he created it in the Upside Down. which I absolutely predicted in here but it's cool, I don't need the credit or anything, we're good also these fucking ruled. I have no notes ...well my note is Gaten, Noah and Sadie are the best child actors I've probably ever seen
i can suspend disbelief for a lot of things but eddie getting marshall tones out of a fender amp is a bridge too far
My only actual complaint is I wish Eddie’s death had been a little more meaningful. At the point where he stays to continue fighting the bats, it’s not really conveyed that there was any risk to the plan as a whole if he followed Dustin out of the upside down. I get why it at least kind of made sense from a character development standpoint (and why he was the most convenient death option for a couple reasons), but it would have been easy to make it clear the bats were about to be a big problem for the others, ya know? Minor quibble, but a little bit of a miss for me.
I really wanna know a) how Dustin got back through the portal with a broken leg and no rope and b) how the Russians captured like 10 demogorgons and the Flayer? there's no gate in Russia, were they out here smuggling demogorgons in baggage compartments back home?
They already announced there will be a time jump between this and season 5 to account for the actors aging. Which confuses me even more about how they'll continue the story.
My guess: It'll be like in Star Wars where the empire has clearly won and it takes some time to build up a rebellion so we'll jump straight ahead to they're ready for final battle in the upside down 2.0 lol
At the very least I feel like this is the most clearly they've set up for a new season to be like, actually something new and not a different version of the same major plot points again.
