That trailer is wild. I have a feeling that the clip of Will and Jonathan ends up being Vecna as Jonathan and about to whip up some wild trauma for our boy
Some people definitely have to die with this. And I wonder how quick the trailer people decided they had to use "Running Up That Hill" for the final trailer once it caught on.
All caught up. Might be my favorite season so far. Though with how expensive it is, there were a couple moments that looked REAL bad.
walking back to our rental house from a restaurant at the beach, 3 kids probably in their late teens rode by with music blasting from a speaker…it was Running Up That Hill lol
Also I know there's more to be said about Mrs. Creel, it felt very purposeful that she was killed first and that they didn't say much about her. I think we find out more about her in the second half, and with her already mentioned connection to Brenner, she might have a lot to do with why he had psychic powers and the experiments with the upside down. I don't want to read too much into her and 11 being lined up in those shots, but I wouldn't be surprised if 11 and 1 are more closely related than they know. There's definitely something they have saved for her.
Awesome trailer. The only person I feel nervous about in the dying department (who I think actually has a chance of dying) is Max, especially because her scene in E4 has so much thematic power beyond the story itself as a metaphor for beating depression. Plus, her character has come out of nowhere as one of my favorites. It would be a huge bummer even though I know it will have deeper significance if they go that route. The Will theory above is interesting. He's the other character I find myself most drawn to alongside Max and the one I've always related to the most. My issue with them making him the villain is they've gone to so much trouble to show him as especially caring and intuitive in relation to any other character, and it would be a massive waste with all of his Upside Down experience to not have him play a huge role in the victory. I'd love it way more if he ends up being a foil to Vecna.
It'd also be interesting if Will was tied more closely to the upside down than we knew before. They went out of their way to show everything in the upside down froze on the date Will disappeared. Maybe that monster only used 11 as a way into our world, and they were after Will the whole time. Maybe he was necessary for Vecna to gain power in the first place. WOuld add a lot of layers and some guilt to deal with for that character.
Strong empire strikes back vibes in the intro with Brenner’s speech to 11 similar to what Yoda tells Luke on dagobah before he leaves for cloud city. Seems somewhat on brand with so many other 80s nods.
I'm guessing there will be resolution with Vecna (whether they kill him or stop him or whatever they end up doing), but not before the Mind Flayer gets into Hawkins or something
Oh are we talking end of the season, or end of the series? I could definitely see that ending happening for the season
Frankly, I hope they do lose. Infinity War is a great comp. Vecna pulls Will and Eleven into the Upside Down and closes all the gates. Smash cut to black.
There has been surprisingly little mention or hint of the mind flayer outside of Dustin theorizing, so yeah feels like he’s gotta pop up at some point here.
