I guess the one thing I’m wondering about right now is where the hell they’ll be going with season five at this point. Right now they’ve just revealed the big bad behind it all (or at least as far as we know) and they’re ramping up to what will surely be a battle between Vecna and Eleven…but then what? I know it remains to be seen so all I have to do is wait another month to at least have a vague idea of where they’ll be going next, but at the moment this whole thing feels like so much of a mad dash to the finish line with all of these movie length episodes that I’m really wondering what will be left when all is said and done. I’m excited to see the rest in July, but I’m also in no rush to get there because I live in Michigan where we crave the sunlight for like seven months out of the year and then it’s here and gone in a flash so summer can stick around for a while.
Hahaha, would you like to come here for our winter season? At first it’s real pretty and then it’s terrible!
My takeaway from one of 001's speeches to El, I believe prior to the reveal (I think when he mentions 008 leaving them), is that Brenner won't allow him to leave. With whatever blocker El removes from 001, it seems like Brenner realized at some point that 001 was too powerful/dangerous and therefore implement with the thing in his neck to block his powers while forcing him to remain in the lab as a sort of orderly so he could keep an eye on him moving forward. Though, given how greatly Brenner and the lab brutalized El's mother, why wouldn't they just kill him if they viewed him to be such a threat? Not like in 001's case there is any family remaining that could cause a stir about where he went.
I think it's a variety of reasons: 1. When you're like 15, 18 year-olds look way scarier and older than you which creates a significant power dynamic. In order to portray that power dynamic to an older demographic, they need to exaggerate the age-difference, or else all of them will look like toddlers in tiaras. 2. It's such a standard industry practice to cast age-upwards, that casting within age-range looks a bit weird to many people. There have been studies that indicate people assume actors on screen are younger than they actually are. 3. It also allows the writers to sexualize the cast without being unethical, which is the mechanic that allows shows like Euphoria to exist.
Pretty solid so far. The el stuff was too dragged out but obviously the ending was satisfying. The Russia stuff and cali stuff was fine. Enjoyed most of the new characters but there really are too many at this point. Also LOL at whoever said the venca transformation CGI was way better than the de-aged el. That was the best de-aging CGI yet probably.
So how did 001, as a kid, get his powers/abilities in the first place? I must have glanced over that somewhere
they did mention it beginning when he moved to hawkins, i think they’re leaning towards hawkins actually being cursed
Yeah maybe this is what they actually address in the final two episodes, haha. And then the 5th/last season is the group trying to get the curse/upside down destroyed once and for all
