Being that Jason is 27 years old in real life, what drives producers/directors to cast much older actors to play teenagers?

I won’t get into how using their trauma to weaken is still a form of manipulation to get them to give up, but I was being way more one to one. Vecna is literally powered by his killings, jock character whose name I forget is using each killing to build influence and rile the town up for revenge.

it’s reminding me of IT a little bit that the whole town is getting blood thirsty, would explain why all the bullies are dialed up to sociopath also.

I liked the Hawkins stuff the most. Max is a star. Dustin is a gem.

I liked Russia plenty. I liked the lab stuff plenty. I liked the Cali stuff a little bit too. I'm easy to please lol

I can see how it could be viewed as manipulating them to give up. But it doesn’t seem to matter. Or rather, if he feels he needs to manipulate them to take them, it doesn’t seem needed to take Max as he very nearly does. The only reason he loses Max (and his father) is because of the music. Some part of the brain can recognize it even when projected into the upside down. The music allows a “gate” to appear where she can hear her friend desperately call to her. With Chrissy, she does give in to feeling defeated, Eddie is right there calling to her trying to help and save her. But without the music, there’s nothing to tether her to the real world. Even his father is saved by music, yet no one was trying to help him. It was purely by accident.

so why even manipulate? He’s choosing victims with trauma because he believes they are weak. If they are weak, why manipulate and have a strict timeline of his attacks? This feels like a structure that he made up that isn’t real. Just a routine to be done over and over, the very thing he rejected as a boy.

but yea, wipping the town up is more similar to It.

I don’t think anyone would argue with Hawkins being the gold of the season.

I didn’t like the reveal at the end tbh. Makes that character less scary to know he used to just be a test subject.

I mean, Henry was a monster before he went to Brennar.

idk, dude could have been a bronie and seeing him telekinetically lift people in the air and snap basically every bone in their body would still have them pretty scary to me haha

Still not as scary as an interdimensional Psychopathic demon. Now it’s just a bratty kid with superpowers that was banished to the upside down.

Really not seeing the problem here.

A scary villain must be scary from day 1? Does this apply to every tv show/movie and villain? Help me understand.

I’m saying that when little was known about the villain in the first 6 episodes other than it was some sort of evil demonic interdimensional being it was scarier. When they revealed his backstory and that he used to be a kid test subject it made the villain less scary.

Kind of like when Michael Myers was just “pure evil” to begin with and the more backstory they continued to add the less scary Michael became.

2 more episodes to go so haven't read anything in this thread, but I think this season has been extremely solid so far and has almost seamlessly blended together multiple plots/genres. It's embracing the horror more openly, but there is plenty of comedy and banter to lighten it up when needed. I have some plot questions I hope are going to be answered in the last 2 episodes (though maybe not because it's half a season so a lot may be pushed), but in general so far, it's been well worth the wait and probably my favorite season since the 1st (probably because it may rank higher when all is said and done). Their budget must be enormous now as the special effects, and choreography on the action scenes have been top notch.

I think I like this season a lot so far because 11 isn’t just saving the day by screaming at a monster thing until everything is fine. They’re really good at setting up a mystery but not great at making a satisfying ending so far.

Also everyone in this show should be dead if that Demagorgon in Russia just did what it did when it hopped out of its cage.

Sequence with Max running to the song will be one of the best scenes this show has offered. The end of Part 1 CGI with Henry may be the worst.

    Great season overall though.

Why does everyone love that scene so much? It's fine, but there's plenty better.

Seriously. I was rewatching season 1 when Steve hits it with the baseball bat, and they got away so easily before. In the Russia pit, it's jumping on walls and whatnot.

thought that 001 CGI was pretty alright lol. deepfaked/deaged Eleven on the other hand... was not good

as far as the demogorgon goes. the one we see in s1 is feeding just to survive and pretty particularly hunts and kills one target at a time (see it dragging away a deer while Nancy and Jonathan are right there), it's definitely not at full strength. the s3 one is well fed and had its viciousness constantly levelled up by the Russians just feeding it food, naturally it's powerful as all shit

I felt the opposite. I wanted her to die. This show, like many others, don't kill off characters so to me it was just another boring cop out.

Hopper should have died too, I don’t think they need him that bad. Would’ve saved us this whole Russia plot that’s taking so long.

this show keeps bringing in new likable characters, they really gotta have at least someone die for real, it’s way too light at times for how dark and serious people take this all after.

Like the cop who believe 11 was their savior died to save these kids and they like only make jokes about it and move on. They don’t seem to really be worried about dying at all.

hadn’t the Russians been training it or at least strengthening it with the prisoner gladiator battles?

haha yes this demogorgon is definitely next level.

    it’s incredible

    It’s that good good
Haha yea, that was like a kid demogorgon and this is a full grown adult in a way.
There is some logic to it, but it really has an advantage over the OG one.
I understand that. They fake killer El at the end of 1. Hopper at the end of 3. Now Max here.

but I would never call it boring. Her story and performance was really good here. It was set up enough to make me believe they might actually kill her. The first time I watched it I was super tensed up, fearing the worst. Since I so deeply related to her trauma and her letter to Billy in a lot of ways, I am glad she survived.

but we are now left with probably like 10-12 episodes left of the show overall and the only real deaths of even supporting characters are Barb and Billy, right? Oh and the Russian scientist from last season that I’m blanking on. But I think that’s it. It’s defiantly time to start killing off a character or two and Max would have been an incredible moment to do so. That’s a fair view on it. But, personally, I am glad. But I hope they saved her for a reason. Like, not killing El off makes sense, otherwise how would they solve the issues in 2 and 3? Hopper clearly must be vital to the endgame of the show, otherwise keeping him alive was stupid. I hope Max still has a specific role to play, as after ep 4 she was just one of the group the rest of the season.
yea, like I said above, Hopper must somehow play a crucial role in the endgame of it all. Otherwise the takeout was a waste of time.
