Haaaaaate his idiot friends. So much. My gf grew to like Steve after he changed face but I still don't trust him.
Steve was never really that bad for me except when he said the thing about how Will deserved it. The rest was pretty obvious peer pressure or teenage misguidedness. Like, he invited Barb to that party when she obviously wouldn't fit in. He was against his dumbass friends' graffiti. He showed up at Jonathan's when they were fighting the monster not even knowing that Nancy was there. Idk. Coulda been a lot worse
Wondering how anyone could watch it and think Steve was one dimensional. He wasn't some like greatly nuanced character or anything but they clearly made sure he broke the mold of just an asshole/jock teen. But these are the same people ragging on Winona, so
You're pretty close to right on. I wouldn't say Ryder sucked but it wasn't amazing. But I think that's part of the '80's trope she was supposed to play. And in that respect she was spot on...
His breaking the mold was so unnatural and his new found "hey I'm a nice guy" persona is not the least bit genuine. You'd have to be a sucker to think a guy like him would change after getting his face caved in. His character didn't get enough air time to make it believable so that's really the issue.
OK I'll stop being such a negative Nancy. After the science and music my favorite part of the show was Jonathan's acting. He did angsty teen in a non obnoxious way.
yeah i actually loved the way they did the Steve character. Throughout they made it pretty clear that he wasn't a cliche 80s asshole guy. They teased both ways a couple of times, so his catharsis towards the end isn't totally out of nowhere.
I too would have smashed someones camera if I found out they were taking pictures of me and a girl in my bedroom
Yeah I mean Jonathon was being a creepo. Idk if I'd break his camera but I def wouldn't be all nice about it
It's still weird seeing my name constantly come up. I always assume it's me and then I'm like "oh right this show has a Jonathan also." Steve was cool just because he looked like Jean Ralphio.
wait, this whole time people disliked Ryder the most? She was one of my favorite parts. FInished the series today.
Finished the season today. WOWOWOWOWOW. SOO GOOD. im so sad i finished it though hah.... season 2 needs to be a thing like right away, because i need more of this in my life. Me and my friends did some intense theorizing / speculation at the end of the last episode. i think El is the cutest little girl ever and when her and Mike kissed it was the best moment of my life
Finished last night, pretty meh on the whole thing. I'd say the second half of the season was better than the first, but man was Ryder hard to watch in those first few episodes. People can argue that Ryder did a justified performance, but I felt she was a bit too over the top for a grieving mother. Everyone reacts differently to tragedies but it just wasn't believable, and I typically like her in movies. I felt the ending was a bit too rushed also, probably would have been better as a 10 episode season. Will's mom went from being broken and completely depressed to all of a sudden being in another dimension and seemingly ok with it, then El's "papa" and the other woman in charge die in the same scene. I'll watch another season, but they should lay off of the 80's pop culture references and music; the original Carpenter-esque score was far better than any other music played.
well, he is probably dead... But we don't know for sure. It doesn't actually show him dying or dead. I don't think he is dead.
You're talking about Brenner? I guess we could assume since the monster was on him and probably ate him. But who knows, Hop went and spoke with someone at the facility afterwards about how to care(?) for El.
yeah, my bet is that somehow brenner escaped. I don't think they would kill off every villain in the same episode. I bet he somehow lived.
And there is that whole thing where "if you don't see someone die, they probably didn't". I'm more curious about El, and what the hell she is doing.
yeah alls I know is I have literally never been happier about behind a screen romance than when El and Mike happened. And then when you think she could be dead I actually wanted to slam my head through the wall.
