Yea, the end of the season when everyone comes together is always the best stuff.

Gotta bob and weave coming in here. Aka not read any posts.

Just watched episode 1. Awesome. Definitely horror movie vibes. I thought the gore of last season with the imploding rats and humans was as extreme as they’d go with gore but they’re already matching that in episode one.

It was worth it to get to the “I’m the curse” speech.

Finished it. Will wait until the last two episodes next month, but this is already better than S3 for me, and I can see it just behind S1 if they stick the landing.

Man. The ending of Episode 4 really got me. I really can't stop thinking about that scene. Might rival the "We Could Be Heroes" moment from the end of S1, E3 as my favorite ST moment ever. The violence we've seen up to Max's encounter with Vecna raises the stakes so much and the payoff is so moving. The way the horror amplifies the emotion reminded me of the best moments from Haunting of Hill House.

The end of episode 4 genuinely impressed me because I truly believed for a second that Max might die

The Vecna/Max encounter was incredible. I truly thought they were actually gonna kill her to up the stakes. I only watched the trailers once and couldn’t remember if there were scenes of hers unaccounted for or not. There probably were, but I was hooked in and there for the ride and the potential of what could have been. Was so so glad with how it went. Max is my MVP of the season.

Yea, it truly felt like Victor Creel had been a dead end and there was no answer to how to save Max.

Also Max at Billy's grave broke me. It's right up there with Will breaking Castle Byers IMO

Oh, Max at the grave is waaaaay higher for me. Her letter to Billy hit me so fucking hard because a ton of it could easily have been written from me to my dead younger brother and older estranged sister who pretends I don’t exist. Obviously not all the details match and for me it’s to two people, but fuck. It spoke to such a massive wound in my soul. It made the whole Vecna encounter all the more stressful to me because how could that be her end? To finally process and write out her feelings around her trauma, to just then immediately die? God. Her death would have broken me.

This is where the violence this season helped. I'm not a fan of things getting extreme for the sake of it, but it made me feel like nothing was off limits and I can't remember a time I've been more relieved than when she got out. I cried.

That was my biggest issue with S3. I never felt the stakes or felt genuinely afraid for anyone to the point that Hopper's death didn't move me at all. The tone was too fun and never made me really feel the danger.

Goddamn Netflix pulling a "Season 4 is in two parts" the month I decided to unsub from Netflix making me keep my sub until July.

They're going to do the same with all of their essential big name shows people would sub to watch and then bounce going forward. Fully expecting The Crown season 5 to be in two parts this fall.

The ending to ep. 7 was amazing, can't wait for the next two.

The main story driving the plot is excellent. Everything involving the Hawkins crew and Eleven is awesome. I love how dark and intense they've gone with the horror element. Ep. 4 is one of the best they’ve ever done.

Thought the Hopper half of the Russia storyline was solid, mostly because Harbour is such a great actor, and I liked the interplay between him and Enzo. The Joyce / Murray half was a little slower, but got better as it went.

The California / Utah storyline is easily the weak point, it's just boring compared to everything else going on. Susie stinks as a character, she doesn't remotely seem like a real person. Every time she's onscreen the show turns into a weird cartoon.

Episode 4 is perhaps the best episode of Stranger Things’s entire run. Have a bunch of thoughts on the season as a whole, which I just finished, but the only thing I can really think about right now is how long until July 1st?

Yeah I finished “Dear Billy” last night (and that’s where I’ve stopped so far) and holy shit I loved it so much. I can’t stop thinking about the end with Max flashing back and remembering her friends after Vecna tells her “they can’t help you”. Then when she’s running toward them and dodging everything he can throw at her while the song builds, and then she makes it back and they all hold her while she cries out “I’m still here. I’m still here.”

Just beautiful stuff and a visualization of depression that touched me deeply.

“I don't want a letter. Just talk to me. To your friends. We're right here. I'm right here. Okay? I'm here.”

His main character trait is to use the death of others to manipulate people into supporting him.
