I read a lot of stuff about this show, but I never saw anyone put forth the idea that Brennan really is 11's father. Is that one of those things that is just too obvious, or am I thinking too much? At a point I thought he might also have mind control powers and be able to convince people to agree with him, but Joyce kind of shot that theory down by telling him off.
Making memes and shirts out of someone's mental health issues or at the least an extremely bad time in their lives is pretty not cool
Someone made a shirt with a tabloid photo of Britney Spears' 2007 shaved head with the show's logo on top. Definitely in poor taste.
Just finished. I thought everyone involved did a fantastic job. I haven't been this immediately invested in characters since the first season of LOST. Just very compelling and relatable and without a lot of the tropes that usually accompany these types of characters.
Final episode tonight. Giving it a seven out of ten so far. My bias for eighties aesthetic makes me love it but God damn I cannot stand Winona Ryder's horrible acting. Also, the blatant similarities to ET bother me lol.
I was suspicious of him being her father from the get go. I can see it being a possibility, but I don't think it is the case.
Just finished the last two episodes. Fantastic show after first viewing. I have a lot of feelings that aren't necessarily articulate but the main take-aways I have at this exact moment are: Winona gave an amazing performance and I can't think of any other show that has such beautiful cinematography (especially the use of wide shots). The downside of the trend towards "bingeable" shows means that now after only a week of watching the show I have to wait a year to see any new episodes. I need answers!!!
The negative comments about Ryder are starting to remind me of the comments made about Anna Gunn when Breaking Bad was airing.
People hating on Anna Gunn and/or her portrayal of Skyler was crazy. Winona was fine, but over the top at points, which annoyed me. It reminded me of how terrible Julianne Moore was in Magnolia. Her scene at the pharmacy was dreadful. The definition of over dramatic, terrible acting. Can't believe PTA let that in there.
Winona was perfect both as a mother freaking out over her missing child, and then again as the mother of a child the officials had declared dead, but she still believed to be alive. both of which may appear to an onlooker as someone acting over the top.
It's like when people criticized and post memes about Rick from the Walking Dead reacting to the Lori news. I still think that was a believable reaction to what had just happened
I'll be in the minority but she did a very bad job. That said she clearly had the toughest role in the show and we didn't get to see any other side of the character. Also given her pedigree I expected the most out of her.
