Rot Forever is very Modest Mouse I'm certain you'll enjoy it also highly recommend Remembering the Rockets, it's head and shoulders their best imo
I don’t think you can fully grasp their transformation until you see these songs live. absolutely unreal performance.
how did the set look? i really wanted to go but was weary about the idea of navigating the chaos of new york that day
it was a late one, they ended close to 2am. played a lot off the new album and the no light in heaven mixtape. there were some massive instrumental breakdowns, incredibly dance-y stuff.
Holy shit lol I would’ve been so wired off red Bull vodkas by that time. Usually don’t stay up past midnight on weekends
lol yeah. we knew it going in that it was going to be late - doors were 10:30 with 2 openers. partner and I just had a late dinner reservation and went to the show, kinda worked out well. the late show suited the album and vibe tbh. I had many gin and tonics.
This sounded so cool. chose to see Oppenheimer at 10:30pm in IMAX 70mm but I kind of wish I went to this instead Not as high on the album as Remember the Rockets but I'm slowly grabbing onto things more with each listen
they were SO GOOD you are right about the live show really showing off how they changed. she’s on fire goes off live. they were so fun to watch. only stuff from pure music and no light in heaven. needing you was another favorite of the night. wish they were playing to much fuller rooms, maybe soon. but also the most annoying people on earth stood near us and held a constant conversation during the first half of their set. but they still ruled
when they busted out 'in hell' from no light in heaven, I had the biggest dumb smile on my face. I love this band
threw this on on a whim today and it’s pretty damn great. really awesome as a full-album listen, it all just flows so well. and I haven’t really kept up with them all that much since Rot Forever, so while I have heard songs here and there and knew they’d shifted their sound a lot, it still kinda took me aback a bit to take it all in ha. also gotta shout out the production, they really killed it.
i heard you write about culture...what's that mean? Is it sort of like everyyyyyyyyyythinggggg Cannot get enough of how he sings that part. so good.
I have a couple gripes with this album but that opening track is absolutely magnificent. they know how to open a record
Was actually on my fifth or sixth listen and man the beginning of Fantasy really makes me feel things
