I'm basically never in my living room for that reason, but also cause I need to clean my couches and the TV isn't hooked up to Netflix or anything and we don't have cable so I'd rather just use my laptop in my room
I double and triple check that doors are locked quite often and I lock my car multiple times before heading inside. unsure of why I do this, but I've started within the last couple years. can't help it.
If I had roommates I would absolutely hole up in my room whenever they were home. Since I don't, I do everything except sleep in the living room
I do this too. I have to make sure the alarm of both my cars beep at me before I can go inside. At night I also get up multiple times and check both doors to make sure they're locked.
I think if I had my own place I'd def use the living room more. My rm is never home but it still doesn't feel like my space so I don't really hang out in it. Up until recently her dogs were monopolizing it. I'm gonna clean it today. Her dogs haven't been here in like 2 weeks but watch the day I clean is when she brings them back lol
Yeah. If something wakes me up even if it's just my dog moving or my wife makes a noise in her sleep I can't go back to sleep until I've checked the house real quick and checked the locks.
that's especially rough. I'm not on that level yet, but I could see myself possibly getting there in the future.
I don't really think about whether or not I locked the door. A lot of the time I notice I didn't even close it all the way
I am a woman that is home alone at night so you best believe I lock the door! I felt safer when I lived in the city. Today I left my back sliding door slightly open for about one minute while I went to the other side of the house and I was like omg what if a stranger went through and is hiding in my house???
I constantly check the door to make sure it's locked. I have an irrational fear that someone is gonna break in and murder me in my sleep. Have to always have something covering my chest as well for this reason. Used to always check my closet and under my bed for people hiding before I went to bed as well. Glad there are others like me out there!
Lol I hug a pillow when I sleep to cover my chest too. I know where my fear stems from though, do you? Have the same fear and it suckssss
I literally grab the string and pull down the ladder steps to the attic and check the attic to see if someone sped in and climbed up there to hide until I'm back asleep
It literally came about while laying in bed in junior high and not being able to sleep and just letting my mind wonder. Fuck my Jr high brain! What about yours? Also I don't hug a pillow but still sleep with a stuffed animal for basically the same reason.
My dad told me the story of a guy in my small town who killed his wife and kids, cut them open and ate out of their stomachs. I was like 12. I remember that night sitting up on the top bunk while I was visiting him staring out the window fuckin terrified. Been that way for the 14 years since lol
You do this every night? I've never had someone try to enter my house while I'm awake so I feel pretty confident I'm safe when I'm sleeping too. You never know though.
This one not every night depends on where the noise I heard comes from. But people have broken in my cars outside my house before so I'm nervous of the fact they were even that close to me/invading my property in some way.
We forgot to lock our front door once and when I came into the living room that morning there was a random guy on the couch. I assumed he knew one of my roommates but no one knew who he was. Turns out he was drunk and came into our house thinking it was his. I'm glad we weren't murdered.
Fuck that's terrifying! That same fateful night I also had the song Jenny From The Block stuck in my head and now my wife gives me shit that I have a fear of J.Lo murdering me in my sleep haha
Someone broke into our house in the middle of the day when I was a kid. My mom was in the shower and I guess dad was out back, and my brother and I were at grandparents. They stole my mom's jewelry box and my guitar and were trying to unhook my PS2 when my dad came in and I guess that scared them off.
If I pull into my driveway and one of my jams comes on, I absolutely have to back out and drive around till it ends.
I might have posted this already. When I leave the house, I habitually lock the door before I let go of the knob. It's caused me to be locked out several times. I need to put a spare house key in my car just in case someone isn't home, which has also happened before.
