I haven't seen them live since before Phil left, but the love videos I've watched show that they use tracks for a lot of the new songs... I dunno why they wouldn't tuck a 2nd guitar in there if they didn't wanna pay someone.
When I saw them open for Yellowcard outdoors last summer, the songs sounded a little thin, but they sounded much beefier in Toronto a few weeks ago.
Black Swan is their best album, a perfect mix of In The Wake aggression and Page Avenue catchiness. Possibly the last great album before that whole scene retreated completely from the mainstream, which is the only reason it wasn't huge for them (in my opinion at least)
I'll start us off! 1. In The Wake Of Determination 2. The Black Swan 3. Page Avenue 4. Tear Me To Pieces 5. The Constant 6. Wolves
In the Wake The Black Swan Page Avenue The Constant Wolves Tear Me to Pieces I'm really glad the band is stoked on it and it seems to be doing well for them, but even as a longtime fan I just could not get into the last album. I'm hoping I like the next one more.
oh man i absolutely love the new album, it hits the feels, its heavy, melodic, catchy, everything i want from a SOTY album, it blows wolves out of the water that's for sure, bummer you didn't get into it!
Yeah I was really excited for it especially after following the process with the podcast and the Patreon updates, but it just didn't do it for me. I definitely prefer the heavier side of the band, and there just wasn't enough of that for my taste. I definitely am not as into the emo-tinged stuff. I understand that's where the band is at right now though and I don't blame them for leaning into that sound and riding the nostalgia wave. Just not exciting to me personally.
totally understanbale, like you said, maybe they'll get you on the next one! kevin skaff from a day to remember wrote/played guitar on this track, they should write more with him!
A photographer on IG had a post today about going to St Louis to take pictures for the cover / booklet of the new SOTY record , seems like they may be closer than I realized to new music.
Here I was hoping that we’d get a 20th anniversary show or whatnot for ITWOD in 2015 but I doubt it at this point, that’s a bummer
