First of all, I will have to agree that the Constant bonus tracks are the weakest. Especially Your Unsung Friend, whenever I listen to it I feel it is kind of repetetive, and there's just nothing special about it. My favorite B-sides are Save One and The Virus. I also love A Silent Murder, even though I'm not sure if it counts as a bonus track or a hidden track (?). Second, I wonder if any of you here know something about a Platinum Edition of The Black Swan, which was supposedly released only in Japan and/or South Korea? According to Wikipedia it was released 13 October 2008, and has all the five B-sides on it. However, I have searched far and wide on the web and there are no records that prove this version has ever existed. Except for the Wikipedia content, and this post: Your Music Stations: Story Of The Year - The Black Swan [Platinum Edition] [2008] It's probably fake. But if it's not, I'd really love to get a copy of that CD. The only way to get the song Turn Up the Radio legally that I know of, is to have the Wake Up CD/Vinyl hybrid single.. which I also can't find a copy of anywhere.
I was only able to find the Black Swan B-sides on digital, I knew a few were iTunes and not sure where the others were officially released. I think A Silent Murder counts more as a hidden track as you said. I would rate Your Unsung Friend above Save One, Turn up the Radio and Unheard Voice as far as B-Sides go. The Truth Shall Set Me Free and The Virus are hands down their best and should have been album tracks
Never Let It Go is a Japan CD bonus track, which I own a copy of and have ripped to my library. The Truth Shall Set Me Free is an iTunes bonus track The Virus can be found on the Wake Up vinyl single and on The Antidote iTunes single Save One is a B-side from the Wake Up iTunes single Turn Up the Radio is on the CD side of the Wake Up hybrid single, as I said, this is the only legal version I know of.
That is a crazy list of information. I would love to have them all on a cd like the version you listed above but not sure if it's real. I have them all, but not sure if they are all full quality. All this talk of the Wake Up Vinyl makes me want The Black Swan on Vinyl. To my knowledge only Page Avenue and Wolves are on Vinyl (and I own then both!!!)
Yeah. I'm a devoted CD collector and I have all their releases on CD (except for all 1 track promo/DJ singles). This mythical deluxe version of my favorite album would be a great addition to my collection. Also, I want all my music files to be legit and in the best possible quality. The only song I don't have a legit copy of is Turn Up the Radio. Ah, I haven't gotten my Wolves vinyl yet. And I just recently learned that Page Avenue had been released on vinyl, I actually found out by accident. It seemed to me as if both versions (red and white) were limited editions so I went ahead and purchased one from Amazon, without knowing what color, haha. I want all their albums on vinyl of course, but I would buy The Black Swan on vinyl even if it was $100, which is 8,3 times more in NOK (Norwegian currency).
Nice to see a fellow Norwegian SOTY fan :) The Wolves vinyl won't be ready until sometime next year, according to Ryan.
Yeah, I'm pretty bummed about it. I didn't order the cd so I am dying to hold something in my hands and look through the booklet and such.
I'm going to a show in January. I wonder if they will sell it there. I'd love to own a cd too just because and that shirt looks awesome too.
I'm sure they will. You're so lucky, I've made my peace with not being able to see them, ever. What are the chances they will come to Norway, haha. I'd probably try to go see them if they came to the UK or something, but that would be sooo expensive. If they're still playing when I'm 40 and rich, then I will travel to the states just to go to a SOTY show!
Many years ago, we went to Germany to see a Taste of Chaos show. SOTY were the first band on the bill. We arrived at the show way too late, and SOTY had already played their set. I missed my chance to see them, and it's one of my biggest regrets in life.
I haven't participated in a bracket since the Silverstein one in September. It's gonna be a nice change to not be running it.
Let's do this! Besides a few hours for the new live LP album, I've listened to nothing but Wolves for 3 weeks straight.
