Thanks to @Bad Frequencies I was alerted last night that the guys would guest on my local radio station's evening local show. They were on for about 2 hours, didn't really say anything news worthy but a few funny/insightful things. - They wanted the Miracle music video out this week before their show on Saturday, but it might not make it. Either way, new video soon! - During Wolves Josh tracked drums last which was new for him, and most bands always track drums first so it was very different. He liked it though and will probably record that way in the future. Ryan did guitar first, then Phil on Bass, Dan's vocals and then Drums is the order they went. - They were asked if they could create a dream line up with them in it for a show, who would it be. Foo Fighters of course....with them opening for Story lol. They went into how they've been blessed to tour with so many bands they love and Foos are the only ones they haven't played with yet and talked about a few. Dan said his favorite tour they've done was the one with Linkin Park, P.O.D. and Hoobastank (honestly that lineup sounds killer). No talk of their best tour, which was with them, Deftones, Thrice and Atreyu. Unbeatable. Another funny thing is that they have always gone in during the morning show to promote their shows, it gives them the best audience and whatnot. This is the first time they haven't, but I suspect it would be really awkward with Phil working on the morning show. Thought it was my duty to report.
They played a new song tonight in Chicago and a cover of everlong kind wish I was there set list was pretty good
Man, out of my 20 times seeing them, it honestly was one of my favorites. They sounded to good, even without Phil. It was a super fan meet up with @Bad Frequencies there and he also had THE Mike Cronin from "The Eternal Battle for Mike Cronin" meet up with us as well. Both dudes were super cool, but @Bad Frequencies said The Constant is their worst album so I consider the meet up a bust overall Their set was: And the Hero Will Drown How Can We Go On Dive Right In We Don't Care Anymore Take Me Back Our Time is Now Miracle Anthem of Our Dying Day Bang Bang Youth/I Swear I'm Okay Goodnight My Love Sidewalks The Antidote My Home In the Shadows Is This My Fate Encore: Everlong Until the Day I Die The extending ending jam to Goodnight My Love was incredible and probably the best part of their set for me. I never thought I'd see We Don't Care Anymore again (after their album release show they seemed to drop it immediately) and My Home live, so those were set highlights for me as well. Actually, seeing the first 3 tracks from In The Wake played in order was great overall. @Cmoney86 we didn't get a new song, but Everlong which sounded really good! Memphis May Fire opened and was so stoked that they played The Deceived, which I also never thought I'd see live since I got into them way after that album dropped. What a line up!
Not to mention Youth/I Swear I’m Ok sounded fantastic live. Honestly all of the Wolves tracks sounded amazing in a live setting
Switch out My Home with A Part of Me or another song from The Black Swan, and it would be the setlist of my dreams. Edit: Or they could swap Everlong with Wake Up and My Home with A Part of Me. I like Everlong, but almost every SOTY song is better, haha.
The lack of Black Swan was sad and A Part of Me is top Wolves for me, but man My Home was such a surprise since I thought all the gang vocals would keep it from being played live. They pulled it off beautifully, it sounded great.
I believe this is the first time since Black Swan dropped that they didn't play Wake Up. Constant and Black Swan really got the shaft on this set, but they just have too many good ones to hit. I honestly would have swapped out In the Shadows for maybe Won Threw Ate, Dream is Over or Tell Me. That would have blown my mind.
To go full on fanatic for a sec, my top 5 sets have been: 1. A little bit before Constant was released: -The Antidote -Hero Will Drown -Falling Down -Dive Right In -Our Time is Now -The Black Swan -Anthem of Our Dying Day -Take Me Back -Stereo -Wake Up -Page Ave -Angel in the Swamp!!! -Terrified acoustic -Sidewalks acoustic until final chorus when full band kicks in -Choose Your Fate!!! -In the Shadows -Is This My Fate Encore: -Welcome To Our New War -Until the Day I Die 2. 2nd Tour for In The Wake. Openers were Anberlin, Funeral For a Friend and He Is Legend. Obvisouly this has to be one of the best sets because the amount of In The Wake songs and they were so full of energy live: -In The Shadows -Falling Down -Dive Right In -Our Time is Now -Anthem of Our Dying Day -Stereo -Meathead -March of the Dead -Page Ave -Taste The Poison -A Silent Murder -And The Hero Will Drown -Take Me Back -Until The Day I Die -Is This My Fate 3. The Constant album release show: -The Children Sing (amazing opener) -Hero Will Drown -Falling Down -The Antidote -Our Time is Now -Ghost of You and I -Anthem of Our Dying Day -Take Me Back -The Dream is Over!!!! -Wake Up -To The Burial!!! -I'm Alive -Choose Your Fate -In The Shadows -Is This My Fate Encore: Sidewalks -Until The Day I Die 4. Last show here in St. Louis that had them as a 5 piece: -Hero Will Drown -Falling Down -Dive Right In -Our Time is Now -The Ghost of You and I -Choose Your Fate -Anthem of Our Dying Day -Take Me Back -The Black Swan -I'm Alive -Children Sing -Page Ave -Razorblades (10 Year Version) -Sidewalks -The Antidote (with Pale Blue Dot intro....what a fake out) -Divide and Conquer -Wake Up -In the Shadows -Is This My Fate -Encore: Medley of Ocean Ave/Cute Without the E/Helena/The Taste of Ink -Until the Day I Die 5. The one I listed already from last Saturday
I’ll say the same thing I told @Davjs and @Nate_Johnson lately. It’s their weakest album, but I like it for what it is and it has some jams.
Do they use backing tracks for Phil's parts? I'm curious as how they pull the backing vocals off without him.
Constant is totally 100% better than Wolves and Page Ave though... I noticed it really bad during We Don't Care Anymore and Antidote. They sounded good without him though. He tried his best but most parts they just didn't have any back ups at all. When they didn't have Adam to do back up screams in Antidote and Hero Will Drown, they just didn't do them. Being down a member, they are never going to have their older songs sound completely full again but good enough for me!
