It's good to be back, sirs. I seriously love that Adam is back. He is super important to their live show and his personality brings a lot to the band. I just really wish we had any idea at all what happened with Phil. It's been like a month now!
Based on some of Phil's tweets to fans, it seems like he was kicked out. Also, on their Facebook I keep seeing comments saying "if you live in STL, you know why Phil left." So apparently the truth is out there somewhere.
I live in STL and follow the band and still have no idea what's going on. The week of, I even made a point to listen to the morning show that he's a part of. People who say its clear if you live in STL are lying.
THHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SSSSSKKKKKKKKKKKKKUUUUUUUULLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Also the solo on How Can We Go On sounds like an 80s Budweiser commercial and i mean that in the best possible way.
Y’all I feel bad saying this because they put so much into it, but at this point Wolves is my least favorite SOTY album. It’s not bad by any means, of course. I just hope they bring it a little harder on the next one.
I never quite understood what people see in Swan, it always felt like a watered-down Wake and that the band kinda was playing it safe after a bit of a negative reaction to Wake
It has their best song writing though for sure out of all their releases and features 3 of their very best songs (Antidote, Welcome to Our New War and Angel in the Swamp). Every song is so strong though IMO. It's heavier than Page, Wolves and Constant though so it's less watered down then those albums I'd say. I do think they def scaled their heaviness back with each release though hoping to catch the PA success.
I honestly go back and forth between Wake and Swan as my favorite. I lean towards Swan because I think it has Dan’s best lyrics overall and musically it feels like a good bridge between the first two records. I do wish it had an all out banger like Is This My Fate, though Welcome to Our New War comes close.
Do you guys think the Adam thing will be permanent, or just some fling because they need a bass player for the shows already booked?
I think he's back full time. SOTY don't really tour full time anyway, so probably suits his schedule.
I think that if it was permanent, they would've made some kind of a statement by now. They could turn the whole Phil situation into a positive thing in the same post. I would if it was me.
