Love that song, like every single song on Wake. I don't think it's ever been played live. If they got the crowd to sing along it could be great.
less bleed in the mics, easier to mix and level stuff out. if you have the time and budget it's def the way to go, but that must fuck your muscle memory up big time haha
I think he alludes to this in the interview too, which is why they only did it for half the tracks haha
Nooooo. It's like out of nowhere. And no official announcement?... Wtf. What will happen to the band now? Are they still friends? - If they aren't, what will happen with Greek Fire? I have soo many questions.
It’s hard to imagine these guys would’ve had a falling out. They seem like the most down to Earth guys in the world. I’m pretty bummed that we’re only down to three classic lineup members. I mean, as long as Dan, Ryan, and Josh are still making the music, it will pretty much sound like SOTY, but Phil’s guitar and vocals added a ton to the band’s sound.
Maybe we’ll get an announcement later today. Seems odd that he would update his info to say “formerly in SOTY” if it wasn’t for real.
He has 2 other bands and a full time job. Maybe he is just getting burnt out. I did notice from the videos posted of the two release shows he was kind of a statue....
Yeah the more I think about it the more I get it. SOTY isn’t a lucrative endeavor and the dude has a family.
It just seems weird because they just released an album, played some shows recently, put out a new video this week, booked some tours, ect. But we are talking about a man who goes by the name of Moon so who knows the mindset haha.
I’m curious to see how they go on. Maybe just have a live bassist and just have Dan or Ryan write/record the bass parts?
Get Adam back, promise Phil he can play guitar again and do spins and kicks and make everything right again! But honestly they just need to bite the bullet and get a new full time bass player and 2nd guitar player (preferably both can scream and sing because that is missing a lot since Adam left and now Phil)
I better learn to play bass real quick and get into a little bit better shape. I think I could rock out enough to win them over.
Can confirm that Phil did not seem to enjoy the show in Chicago. Between songs Dan and Ryan would be talking and Phil was just standing back by his cab looking uninterested waiting for the next song to start. He played and sang good to his credit, but something was clearly off. Not sure what caused his leaving for sure, but it really doesn’t surprise me one bit.
