Sounds more like a Papa Roach song than any particular SOTY era.

  2. Hmm I’ve gone through their discography once but their earlier, numetal-y stuff is the only chunk I recall. Curious to see what that translates to as my mind goes to Octanecore with this comment.

    Papa Roach has layers.

I guess I should clarify and say butt rock/mainstream rock around. Page Avenue is more pop punk/emo and ITWD is similar with a lot more hardcore/metal influences compared to most of the music they have released since then.

Yeah maybe it'll grow on me, and I've loved most of what they've released throughout the years. Not my place to say they can't try something new though. Just a little unexpected .

This new single is pretty Octanecore, but maybe consistently heavier than they’ve ever been. It’s definitely grabbed my attention for better or worse.

Part of the Riff reminds me of the new limp bizkit song. Also Colin from Linkin park produced the song/ and possibly the album

I definitely hear the Limp comparison. Liking the heavier parts of the song.

Wasn't sure initially but it grew on me and I think it's pretty good

  13. Hope it leans more on their heavy side than the last album, even if it’s in an Octanecore way. I know they have the chops to incorporate those modern influences into their core sound very well.

    Better in time

Same thoughts. Nothing groundbreaking, like, but it's a "safe" song for them.

Oh fuck yeah, been waiting for them to go heavy again. That bridge absolutely rips.

Artist they tagged is an “ai artist” lol.

But the cover is a Lambo, not a Ferrari!

  18. Embracing the potential of generative AI, Marcus introduces an element of unpredictability that mirrors his fascination with technology and the unknown. Like surrealist artists tapping into the subconscious, he employs “promptography”, an integration of AI and human creativity, to access a collective digital unconscious. His work underscores the co-dependence between human imagination and AI’s limitless potential, suggesting that the future of art will emerge from this partnership.

Through his art, Marcus invites viewers to reflect on the human experience, framing his compositions as meditations on navigating both inner and outer worlds. For him, AI is not a replacement but a creative tool that amplifies his vision, enabling him to capture the intricate and intangible aspects of existence.

I think they technically used AI for their last album cover too.

In the Wake of Determination is my favorite SOTY era, so the heaviness of this song -- however Octane-ish it may be -- is intriguing.

There's an element or two that I enjoy in here, and I'm sure this will be fun live or whatever but yeah... This song isn't for me in 2025.

  23. Well I like the song. I see what you guys meant with the Octanecore description, the stop and start in the hook reminds me of Rise Against’s I Want It All, but the rest of the song slaps. The bridge feels like the kind of heaviness they had in The Black Swan.
