Haha true. I know Gwendy's Final Task is set for sometime in February so I should be in the clear until then I'm hoping. I've loved this wild process, but I'm very tired and also have other things I'd love to read and watch now that I'm almost caught up haha.
Sure did! Read the script too since I picked up a copy of it. Not the worst thing King's written for TV so that was a plus lol.
I have hardcore nostalgia for it and have no idea if it holds up but I like my memories of it, lol. I never got around to reading the script.
I thought it was fine! I probably watched it sometime last year? It’s kind of all a blur at this point as far as when I watched/read things. And since it’s King, the script is very wordy haha.
I started Carrie yesterday and finished today! I honestly think the story is so good but the way it is written is not it. If he told the story just by literally not doing it as a series of what felt like newspaper clippings it could have been phenomenal.
Agreed, that's always been my take too. It's clear that he didn't like writing that way since he never really did it again. One of the few examples of a movie being better than the book.
A 600 page story about a kid going into a parallel universe and gets caught in a war of good vs. evil??? Let’s dooooo it!
Sounds awesome. Also I'm see it's over 600 pages. (When I googled Fairy Tale the first thing that came up said "Over 800 pages" and that got me crazy excited but when I actually went to the site it said "over 600" so I'm assuming it's the latter)
I still need to read the gunslinger series, I keep telling myself I'm gonna start and and then put it off.
it took me a while to read the gunslinger, i stopped at the book (can't recall) that was a flashback, and it took me a few years to come back but I'm glad I did. Also the flashback book ended up being one of my favorites. Should edit, thanks to Vivatoto: The novel in the series i'm talking about is Wizard and Glass.
Yeah Wizard and Glass can be jarring the first time, especially with the cliffhanger just hanging there all book, but it definitely became a favorite. Same with basically everyone I've talked to about it.
I remember when I was pounding through the Dark Tower series I asked my boss if I should skip W&G due to it being a flashback and he looked at me and said “absolutely not, it’s the best part of the entire series” and I still to this day agree. Love that story so, so much.
W&G is my fav of the dark tower. Definitely here for Fairy Tale too! I’m on a fantasy kick so this is great timing!
Wizard & Glass is top 5 King for me, absolutely incredible book. the series also nosedives a bit after it lol but maybe that was unavoidable, I still enjoy the whole thing
Only Dark Tower book I didn’t care for was Song of Susannah. I really disliked a certain aspect which sort of took me out of the story.
